I want to thank Dave @ Hurricane Performance for a great 2 days at his Dyno. Dave and his wife took great care of us, fead us lunch and dinner and worked his butt off for us to get in as much testing in the time we had. Can't say enough about the guy's service!!
We took my 2012 Apex with a MCX turbo kit on it, and a 2011 Apex with the same kit and a motor with rods, Dave's head porting and a t19 turbo with a bit of work done to it that we will be asphalt racing.
My 2012 stock motor with a head shim and the MCX turbo made 294 HP @ 14 pounds of boost as advertised by MCX in the heat of the summer, and 362 hp @ 19 pounds of boost on c12. The 2011 with the ported head made 290 hp @ 12 pounds of boost, and made 1 run at 400 hp @22 pounds, and consistently made 380 at just a little less boost. We determined the turbo is too small to make anymore - we turned the boost up and power kept going down becuase the turbo wouldn't let enough exhaust out and the power would just drop off. There's more here with a bigger turbo.

Wicked numbers Robbie....Dave is an amazing tuner that works hard and does a great job...the man just won't quit until you're happy and until he get's everything he can out of the sled. He also has an amazing family and they really look after their customers...who in turn become friends.

After figuring stuff out on the dyno, we got out this weekend and got to put some of this power down to the track. Thanks again Dave for spending the time with us, and I know you thought we were crazy, but I do think there is a 7 second pass in this sled.

Well after a hectic couple of weeks of going to the track and spending 2 days at the dyno we are finally getting some headway with the sled. Unfortunately rain delayed us so we only got 4 runs Saturday and 2 runs Sunday to test with so looking forward to do some more. I would like to thank my team 123 racing for all the help I have gotten this year especially Robbie without him I would never have been able to get the sled ready this year and Brian for doing a great driving job yesterday. I would also like to thank Dave from hurricane for that extra power to play with and his help Friday night. Here's the time ticket with hopefully more to come to get to that elusive 7.99 goal we set out for this year.

Guys look at this video....
its me and my blower apex ... and its infamous belt slip problems at start....
So bad that car in video just jumped on me while I my belt was almost sublimating lollllll
place this same run with a 1.3 60ft time and theres a 8.4 second time slip @ 155mph.
but... instead... 1.6X 60ft times are typical for this sled... feels slow as can be out the hole
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky_-GcBp ... e=youtu.be
I am still running stock yamaha belts....
I am starting to think my biggest problem is there... might be time to switch to ultimax XS belts..
what do you fast guys think?
thank you.
BTW was nice to see you again Hurricane Dave today!!

It was a very nice surprise to see you and your brother today in Napierville.I agree that the xs belts have good traction but we have found that the Dayco xtx belts grab well and are stronger

We are using stock Yamaha belts I have tried the X's 805 belts years ago but they are very inconsistent. It's all about your clutch set up yours is obviously set up to soft at start you will need to adjust that. Not sure about how your suspension is set up but small changes make a big difference.

belt gap is 300thou
clutching rpm is 5600 rpm,,
in fact it really slam that belt pretty hard, but right after that it really does not shift that hard from the start... regardless of weight I put on ramps. so i am pretty clueless as to why this happens all the time.
i have an outlaw sled with a pretty similar clutch setup ( just not sames ramps). and this one does hook the belt a lot harder. but i had similar belt smoke show issues with it until i switched to xs, then started to grab real hard. so that is the reason i asked about the belt possibly be culprit.
but i may be wrong.. i am just about as pissed off as cN be about this sled never laumching like it should
