So, Yamaha released the new Apex today, and the mountain model is gone.

The Nytro & Phazer MTX have the old skis.

This begs the question, what were the MT9 skis designed for? It doesn't make sense that they made them for no reason, and they dropped their highest HP mountain sled, putting them at a big disadvantage to the 2 strokes, which doesn't make sense.

My guess - they have a new lighter weight 4 cylinder mountain machine which shares the engine with the Apex, but on an FX style chassis.

Probably a late release so they can get double the amount of press coverage.

They said it in there last vid they put out last year the nytro MTX beats the Apex up the mountain.....so makes sence why they didn't build it this year. Why have a slower more pricey sled.

No, it was not a mid season release.

Skidoo did just release a mid season Etec 800.

The MT9 skis are to suck you into buying more Yamaha parts, just like idler wheels, sliders, Dumbo handguard covers and Nytro subframes.
