Great sled :!: How do you like the belt drive. Do you think it's worth the bucks :?:
Yes, that is a nice sled. To bad it isn't yours.
Does Pinball Wizzard know you ripped off his sled?

I like the additional storage space they incorporated into the rear of the right ski. Big enough for a quart of spare oil or a sandwich.

WarriorRacer, yes that is one cool sled. The sliver paint really makes it look like a "Show Sled".
There is hope for a sled of this caliber. I'm told by fairly reliable sources that Yamaha has FINALLY created a separate "Mountain Division" this year to focus on building a REAL mountain sled.
Let's face it. Everyone of their past mountains sleds have merely been a long track version of their short track sleds. From the Phazer to the Exciter to the Mountain Max to the Mountain SRX to the Mountain Viper and now on to the RX-1 Mountain.
I'd like to see a mountain SPECIFIC sled. Not a spin off of what they think works on the flats. Come on Yamaha flex some of that corporate muscle. Those of us who have chosen to ride Yamahas "mountain sleds" have had to endure countless put downs due to Yamaha's lack of focus. They seem to make sleds that cover a broad market more than the smaller "niche markets" that the other manufacturers seem to focus on. I guess that's good for making money but it cost us a lot of money trying to make the guys from the other brands shut up.
Honestly, I'm ready for a TRUELY light weight sled. One that almost responds to my thoughts and not merely massive jerks from my arms. Yes, I love triples but I think this one would have to be a twin (maybe opposed or maybe a V but a twin). If it is a true mountain sled I'd even take a leaf blower. I know that's blasfamy but if it saves 30 lbs and makes the sled super light and manuverable then deal me in. Ok, so it's light, it's a leaf blower, it has power valves, it has a narrowish A arm front end, it used Yamaha HDPI direct injection, titanium springs and a light weight chrome molly suspension, a belt drive or diamond type drive system, carbon fiber? (too expensive to replace if you ding it), ect.
You get the idea. I'd also like to see them throw every other weight saving idea at it they can. How about having a limited edition that does this with chrome molly and titanium and a belt drive.
They could also offer it in a less expensive consumer version with steel parts for those on a budget or who just don't care.
I hope the giant has awoken and decides to show the litle guys who's boss. It would be fun to ride around on his shoulders for a while squash the lesser sleds. Man, I need some counseling or maybe just some more coffee. Later. PB

I agree with everything but the "leaf blower" part. I'm currently putting pistons in my 96 powder special for the fourth time! I'll give up 20lbs for a motor thats reliable.

Guys, I never once said this was my sled. Just some info I got & photos that were sent to me, thought I'd pass it along. Guess next time I'll just keep it under my belt though.

Damn it Spary, you have got to quit scaring people away  The pictures are really cool you must admit, even if they are of a RX-1 that resides in Chelan Washington.
Let me explain my "leaf Blower" reasoning. I don't want your grand father's leaf blower. I want a new high tech engine with direct injection, power valves, a exhaust gas sensor in the pipe that changes the timing based on the temps. Hey, maybe they could design some integral (part of the engine) oil cooling system that is light but very effective? It could have a heat exchanger mounted where the one is in the front of the tunnel.
It would have to be a rather large engine. Say something in the 700cc range to get the kind of H.P. I'd want (120ish). Put an engine like this in a sled that weighs 450 lbs. with a 144 x 16" track that's geared to pull it and you'd have one boondocking MOFO. PB

Hey WarriorRacer no offense taken . Think its neet that you like my sled.
Trying to get finished pictures on site but am having problems. May be I'll mail them to someone to get them on. Hopefully it will be in the Feb. issue of sledheads. they were really interested and I submitted it to them.

Don't get your shorts all knotted up. I was just making sure everyone knew it was Pinball's. He put a lot of effort into that project and deserves all the credit he can get.

That is a very sweet sled! What is the final weight, 490lbs? How does the tunnel hold up to a beating on the hill and trail? Would you recomend a tunnel like this for a big guy, lets say a 305lbs naked? I hope it is in the Mag that way we all can read more about your sled! Great Job, I wish it was mine!
