Pretty much all sleds are reliability crippled. There’s a lot of junk being sold, there’s no emphasis put into reliability anymore, they spend all their efforts on looks and features with disregard for reliability. They use cheap parts and you pay big money.
Correct. ALL the sled maker source parts form all around the globe in an effort to keep costs down.

Yup.

Yes I understand that but when your paying $15k for a sled it should be reliable. They are manufacturing a sidewinder for around $5k. Between stock holders, dealers and over paid upper management, they could find other places to cut costs IMO.

You don’t need a panel of 40 over paid people to decide if your going to change the brake lever design.
Oh an BTW 37 of the 40 people don’t even own snowmobile.

I think the problem with most machines is the operator, we simply are beating the hell out of the drive train with the power that we add to them. They are simply not made for it.

What i would like to know when someone post about the poor quality or breading down is the type of power they have on their sleds. I think that would be very interesting to hear.

For me i am boosted 270 hp, never broke a single thing nor did it leave me stranded. I now have 6000 beautiful trouble free boosted miles and i have no issues going for a ride on my own.

Sled simply rocks and I love it.

I'm done with Yamaha after this year.

In addition to my own, I have 4 other tuned SW's (and a Tcat) that I'm regularly working on.

In addition to my own, I have 4 other tuned SW's (and a Tcat) that I'm regularly working on. These sleds have a build quality that I usually associate with Cold War era Soviet passenger cars. Shitty self-tapping fasteners that probably didn't hold a torque at the factory (and certainly don't the second time they are tightened); coolant loss; random codes; garbage clutches; torsion bars gouging panels; components mated so poorly that snow dust/powder causes belts to slip; ROV freezing/blowing out oil tanks 'seal'; cracked exhausts; failed heat shields; sight glass popping out of chaincase; and the list goes on.

We raced many years for Ski-Doo in ISOC, and now the last 3 years in USXC. The build quality of the Doo is so far superior to this junk that it is simply pathetic. Think you ride a sled hard? Imagine riding your sled so hard that a set of brake pads last you a day. Now imagine how your present day Yamaha would fare if I put our rider on it for a few hours. I already know the answer.

The 'insult to injury' part of this is that (at least for YMCA) supply chain management has gone off a cliff, this year especially. I've never had so many back-ordered parts, and parts not arriving when expected even when they are in the Toronto warehouse.
I raced in uscc. I got 2nd in i500 one year. I can ride a sled and had some good finishes against good drivers. Bryan Dyrdahl was the best guy on a sled hands down no matter what he rode!
With that said all sleds break. I don’t care what it is. Add hp to a skidoo and it’s going to break and same with Polaris. The sleds were not designed for 250 plus hp.
Anyone that thinks the procross chassis is not one of the best handling sleds when properly set up is crazy imo!!! Thank god cat put this motor in a chassis you can ride!!!
I know people like some previous Yamaha chassis but they where no comparison to this chassis.
Yes skidoo and Polaris have great handling sleds too
.
There isn’t a lot wrong I see with the sleds. There are some things that need attention yes. My sled has 300 hp I can ride all day with 91 pump gas!!!!
I am happy as hell!!!
1800 miles on a 112 cat belt and a rocket of a sled. More maintenance than a 600 or 800 yes.
I am fine with the maintenance simply for the fun of the power factor.
Check with cat for some parts sometimes. They are all pretty much same and I have not had any issues getting parts.

No complaints about the chassis itself - we raced the Procross chassis in 2012 and it was a good platform. I realize all sleds (all brands) are going to have issues. The majority of the issues I'm talking about are related to initial build quality, and in that aspect I find the SW extremely lacking.

The rov is junk. The chain case chain tensioner needs attention. The intercooler doesn’t flow correctly. The bearings on the drive shaft are less than desirable. Imo Yamaha primary not great.

Yes there are issues.

I just choose to fix them rather than build sled from ground up. I am a cat guy coming off Polaris in 90s.
I have ridden them all and I can start naming all the issues skidoo and Polaris have too.
I don’t care because I wouldn’t own one
They don’t offer a sled that’s any which way on the same playing field.
The 900t has a motor built out of a pop can
Lol

I’ll fix the chassis small issues
Motors scattered in the belly pan suck!!

I have a 2000 SRX also, much more reliable than this sled.
The center of gravity is much too high on the new sleds, not good for handling. I rarely ever use the full travel of the suspension. They look cool so people buy them. The trails I usually ride are tight and twisting like the vast majority in northern wisconsin. I will guarantee you on trails that aren’t bumped out, you will not even come close to keeping up with that old SRX and you have 100 horsepower on me.
BTW I think you might have jinxed yourself, with 5000 miles on this chassis things really start to go wrong fast.

The cat guys I ride with on procrosses, really love them. Suzuki turbos or na 1049s....nary a bad word said!

The Polaris Axys chassis is a much better handling machine IMO but has no power, I like the big power for those wide trails or rail grades.

It handles good cause it’s slow
Lol
I agree they are nice but need hp

My tcat which is same as srx in 19 handles a lot better lowered. Makes a big difference on cornering. I was sold on 1.25 track but I am loving the 1 inch on tcat.
1.63 triggers in that 1 inch hook

Put 600 miles on up in your area this past weekend
I ride in st Germain area typically and n. I run sled 2 years and sell

WORD! Totaly agree.

Depends which sled, maybe the short track ones. My buddy has a 17 switchback 800 and it doesn't handle as good as my winder nor does it take the bumps as good. I can get so far ahead of him on twisty trails its ridiculous, and his sled has had more problems than my winder has so far. To top it off his engine went at 6300kms, new motor under warranty. The dealers says this is not an uncommon mileage to fail at.

Love my sled, by far the most powerful, most giggle factor of all the gazillions of sleds I've owned since I was a kid. Sill not sure which way I'm heading, but am doing my 'doo'-diligence as usual trying to make a decision for my next ride.

I've been on a 2 yr plan for many yrs now....not cheap to do this by any means and my wallet shows for it.

Anyone considering a Winder take a look here: Rockerdan's Winder may be available

;)
