I've seen this before on this filter.

Just my opinion but I have never been a fan of these. I have been a die hard Wix filter buyer and can honestly say in my 55 years which would be almost 40 years of driving legally, I have never had an issue with them. I've always changed my own oil too in my vehicles and off road toys.
 

I have been looking for a longer flap. have you found one? I did the larson axle. very nice with 6205 bearings

I was looking at the PDP snowflap that people on here have installed. The mountain version (I think that's what it's called) is 28" long, so plenty for dragging along the trail to prevent the jet ski-style cloud of ice missiles behind me. It also looks like this is a flat flap, so I'd have access to the whole bumper.

I have a snow flap plate that drops the oem flap.
 
How do you back up with a lowered flap? I can't back up now with stock flap if loose snow is more than 3"

The stock flap can be pulled up and it stays up for backing up in deep. Saves the flap and rivets holding it on if you remember to do it. Often thought about have some type of cable to fold it way up and over to hold it there.
 
Just a little thought on the inevitable doo vs yamaha comments ending up in this topic. Over the years of avidly reading dootalk and TY i have noticed a marked difference in atttiude that no doubt has to affect some opinions expressed. Guys on here immediately offer help and or constructive advice of some kind if one of us posts a problem or performance deficiencie. Guys on the other big sled forum immediately jump down the owners throat and blame the operator for not knowing how to ride a gen4 so they can enjoy the tippiness or not warming up their etec 8 well enough when the engine locks up with 8,000 kms on it. Yamaha should rightfully be jealous of that kind of intense brand loyalty. They have good accessories but that cant be the only thing encouraging that level of loyalty lol. One of my buddies just exploded doos new roller primaries taking out the secondary too. Bone stock with 2,600 kms so they all have issues for sure. He wouldnt let me take a pic or i would have.

Well, one bud rode my sw yesterday and it was hard pack so the curves steer hard...unless you learn to move around, as the procross is very responsive to rider weight and position....but the takeaway?? It needs.....LESS power....dam!! LOL
Never thought I'd hear that....friggin scary when it hooks and you ain't hanging on!!
I think we become accustomed to it...
 
I'm done with Yamaha after this year.

In addition to my own, I have 4 other tuned SW's (and a Tcat) that I'm regularly working on. These sleds have a build quality that I usually associate with Cold War era Soviet passenger cars. Shitty self-tapping fasteners that probably didn't hold a torque at the factory (and certainly don't the second time they are tightened); coolant loss; random codes; garbage clutches; torsion bars gouging panels; components mated so poorly that snow dust/powder causes belts to slip; ROV freezing/blowing out oil tanks 'seal'; cracked exhausts; failed heat shields; sight glass popping out of chaincase; and the list goes on.

We raced many years for Ski-Doo in ISOC, and now the last 3 years in USXC. The build quality of the Doo is so far superior to this junk that it is simply pathetic. Think you ride a sled hard? Imagine riding your sled so hard that a set of brake pads last you a day. Now imagine how your present day Yamaha would fare if I put our rider on it for a few hours. I already know the answer.

The 'insult to injury' part of this is that (at least for YMCA) supply chain management has gone off a cliff, this year especially. I've never had so many back-ordered parts, and parts not arriving when expected even when they are in the Toronto warehouse.

The flap on my XTX is WAY in the air. I lose a ton of cooling potential out the back end of the sled. Even when I back up in deep snow, I've never run over my flap.

Couldn't agree more and of course stuff's going to break when you start adding more power. A CVT belt can only handle so much. There's numerous videos of supercharged/turbocharged Nytros and Apexs blowing belts.

The two 2019 SideWinders in our group have been just as, if not more, reliable than the "true Yamahas" that they replaced. No speedometer bearings to blow apart, not burning through hyfax every 1,000 miles, no darting (but not using Tuner skis - which also sucked on everything but the FX Nytro and Phazer), ten times more comfortable, and similar fuel economy - plus so much more. I've never had snow dust enter the clutch area on my 'Winder or my Viper and I had snow up to the headlight. Heck, I just put 3,000 miles on my 19 XTX and the belt looks incredible. The only thing that's a pain in the #*$&@ is the icing under the tunnel - but Yamahas of old did the same and it's nothing 5 minutes with a rubber mallet can't fix.

I was in a Ski-Doo dealership the other day for helmet parts and was looking around being nosey. That ITC throttle control is a bandaid for poor 4-stroke intake design. I think the sw wants a good whippin..lol...we ran part of southern tug, in a big loop, and it didn't dissapoint...mogul heaven, and some rocks and crap too...going for 1800 zero issue miles. Amazing...looks like new, ( maybe a few paint dings from harassing people in front) steering is tight, belt is like new... I did see oil on the floor after Maine, and it was the yamaha oem filter. ( Dealer installed, but it was tight) Took an 1/8 turn and it stopped. Happened before on a vector and apex. Im using K and N filters, since every one that seeped a little was the oem filter.
Other than that, its been flawless. Thankfully. And fun!
 
I can't say anything about the Polaris but my riding buddy has 850 gen 4 and that thing is one of the worse handling snowmachines I've ever ridden, we have been messing around with it all winter and finally getting it dialed in. I can leave him on the trail and lake with my turbo Viper. He is a hardcore Ski Doo guy and won't admit it but I think he is very disappointed with his choice. Like I said before they
All have issues in one way or another so don't think your going to jump on a Polaris or Ski Doo and not have any problems. IF YOU FEEL FROGGY, THEN JUMP. I'm pretty sure if you have been racing a Ski Doo in the USXC for the last 3 years you have been getting your a$$ paddled by the pro cross chassis.

Smoke was pouring out of his hood with holes blown through the top and on back side of cowling. Blew the chain case right apart!
I realize a 2010 swt Skandic Ski doo is not current, but seriously, cat engineers would laugh...Doo has the (rubber with plastic fittings) fuel lines over the top of the twin v800 four stroke and the hood rubs on the front one, making a nice atomized spray onto the hot exhaust when it eventually leaked.. Just happy I found it and not some other poor sap grooming, and catch fire. Dumbest thing I ever saw. Embarrassing, ski doo! Not here to trash but just make the point, they all make goofs...even on a sled that is a workhorse. I will say Yamacat did a helluva job stuffing that turbo motor in that chassis and making a fun sled. Some things need correcting, but that's life today...consumers eventually find all the shortcomings.

Pretty much all sleds are reliability crippled. There’s a lot of junk being sold, there’s no emphasis put into reliability anymore, they spend all their efforts on looks and features with disregard for reliability. They use cheap parts and you pay big money.
