I think you hit it right on the head. These turbo sleds have a lot of power under the hood, most riders are flashed for big power, more than likely big power on tap means your going to use it, heavy studded its hooking up hard and the driver grabs a handful out of every corner whats going to happen to every part that puts the power to the ground? its going to get pounded. now dial your suspension in and you say to yourself i hardly feel the bumps so what happens then you go even faster bumps you use to hit at 40 are now being hit at 70 & 80 + again you beat the tar out of the machine then wounder why things are breaking or wearing out. sometimes to much of a good thing takes a little more maintance to keep it running.I think the problem with most machines is the operator, we simply are beating the hell out of the drive train with the power that we add to them. They are simply not made for it.
What i would like to know when someone post about the poor quality or breading down is the type of power they have on their sleds. I think that would be very interesting to hear.
For me i am boosted 270 hp, never broke a single thing nor did it leave me stranded. I now have 6000 beautiful trouble free boosted miles and i have no issues going for a ride on my own.
Sled simply rocks and I love it.

Why do people boost these sleds?
Ill tell you why, because they dont make enough power! Manufacturers should take heed and build what people need. I run a measely 300 hp tune because that is the most horsepower I can get on a trailsled to run on pump gas. Sure, it annihilates everything else on snow, but that's because everybody has their head in the sand. Anybody that puts money down for a sled with a meager 165 hp is foolish and getting ripped off. If I could, I'd trail ride at 500 hp, but unfortunately that is not possible as of yet. But I can always hope.
These things sell for 15-20k. There is absolutely no reason why they arent capable of 200 mph right off the showroom floor. Having to pump money into these things after we purchase them to get what we need is absolutely ridiculous!!
Hey Yamaha...we need more power!!

Fleecer really 500hp what ever dude your talking like your lips don't match you must be a big racer guy. Most people can't handle the power of a stock Winder and you want a manufacture to double it. I hope your life insurance is payed up. I don't know we're you ride but around here the only place to use that power is on the lake but is so rough you can't do it anyways.

It handles good cause it’s slow
Lol
I agree they are nice but need hp
My tcat which is same as srx in 19 handles a lot better lowered. Makes a big difference on cornering. I was sold on 1.25 track but I am loving the 1 inch on tcat.
1.63 triggers in that 1 inch hook
Put 600 miles on up in your area this past weekend
I ride in st Germain area typically and n. I run sled 2 years and sell
When are you coming back up, we should ride!
I typically stay away from St.Germain because of so much traffic. I prefer to ride the Willow area, less beat up trails.

I have really enjoyed the 9 pages I have just read. I couldn't imagine having the amount of time and money into one of these that some of you have into them just to dump it for pennies on the dollar after 2 years. I have 3400+ miles on my 2017 and planning on keeping it. This is the most miles and longest I have kept a sled. I do hear all your complaints and concerns about this sled and I have some as well that are well documented on the forums. I know my next sled will be one that is better on fuel as more of a long distance type of sled probably in the 125hp range. I have had "open" class sleds for quite some time now and I don't need this kind of power to keep up, when everyone I ride with is on a 600 and is getting close to or over 20 mpg to my 10-12 mpg.

If working on your sled constantly and never knowing when something is going to blow makes you manly then Arctic Cats must be full of testosterone. Not for sure yet? Heading to Florida this week.

Florida? Yep that's a great place to spend time in Winter. Gives you a break from the constant working on the sled.

1800 miles this year in 8 days of riding
I haven’t worked on it or changed a belt when riding. Just turn key and add gas.
I did put different gear ratio in, added studs, added hp, changed weights and springs, etc etc.
I feel bad that you luck is that bad. I’m going to Florida for commodity classic which we won a contest for here in IL btw. Free trips are good.
I’ll probly go up one more time and get my 2400 miles for the year and then put it away.
I have two turbos with a combined 4200 miles that have not broken down on the trail once. Hmmmm
I must have good luck
Some people should not own a four stroke Turbo I guess??

I also had zero issues with my Winder. I did 1200 trouble free miles up in Gaspe and another 1200 trouble free miles in Temiscaming. My Winder was absolutely great and never missed a beat. I did however have to take many preventative measures with it that I haven't had to do since the last Cats I owned. I'm getting too old to work on sleds because I just don't enjoy working on them like I used to. Anything built by Cat is not a good choice if you just want to ride and not wrench.1800 miles this year in 8 days of riding

I don’t prefer too either.
I don’t know of a sled that is not capable of mechanical failure though and to say that about cat to me is interesting.
To each their own I guess.
Good luck going to the other side.

X2 I have a cat haven’t fixed anything yet, no clutch problems, I have 270, great sled, people should just set clutch the way you want it and then leave it alone, she’ll be good, run it.1800 miles this year in 8 days of riding

Most people who don’t blow belts or breakdown ever 100 miles have similar outlook.
People who are lucky shouldn’t comment, they live a charmed life.
