Thoughts on Pilots

any of you guys have tried snowtrackers on yam ski? well after you will never want nothing else,,anyway it is never hard to steer when the ski dont touch the ground!!!!lolwith 21000 klm i used 2 set since 2006 on my attak.

Well, logged a few miles with the pilots and they are much improved over the stock Yamaha skis. A couple buddies ride Apex' with stock skis and they dart like crazy. Only issue I found is a bit of push in the corners but a small price to pay to get ride of the darting.

I have had pilots on my Attak for the last 3 years. I find they do push a bit in softer conditions like some said and overall over the stock skis my personal take is that the improvement was marginal. Just my personal experience, does improve darting if that is a concern.

Pilot skis apex

Best mod I have done so far.
Tried everything with stock ski's. Duallies ,single 10" host bar, Transfer full, half , no transfer, Strap up,down sideways. May try snowtracker in middle when these carbides wear out. Sled basically rails now. I do have wide front end kit on as well

pilot skis are great on the apex. Add 6" shaper bars on the middle and 4" on the side. Great combination. If you don't put any on the side your skis will wear out.

^this .....also setup your front A arms parallel to ground(level) ,along with a 13mm sway bar ive run since '06 and still handles like on rails.

Shaper bars will help with some of the push. Start with one set of the shapers in the center of the ski.

The darting doesnt bother me as much as the push.I only have one ride on the skis and it was loose snow, but it pushed like crazy. I was hoping on better trails they would turn better than the stock skis

What Dan says here makes a huge difference. I did this last year and am quite pleased

I just ordered a set. I've read posts now for years saying they like them. I really haven't heard much at all negative about them so I needed ski's and they were resonable.
I hope I'm happy with them on my Attak with studs.

I put a pair of 5.7's on my vector and they push like bus in the corners. Tried sucking up limiter strap 1 hole, changing the control rods to #3 setting, dropped front shocks almost all the way down, backed off center rear shock and added a 13mm swaybar but still haven't been able to test with this setup as I'm waiting on parts. Thinking about trying the new mtn skis from Yamaha if this setup doesn't work. The 5.7's are no better than stockers in snow. I probably should have tried 6.9's.

Is it the shaper bars or the sway bar that makes it turn better
The sway bar will help with ski lift, with out it each side is completely independant. Alot of mountain sleds don't have them for this reason. The shaper bars, because of the concave on the sides, grabs the snow and helps eliminate the push.
