Threading the stock weights

Has anyone been able to thread the stock Yamaha weights? I took the rivets out of a stock weight and was wondering if i could thread the hole and use set screws instead of rivets.
I know the material they are made of is hard as nails.
The other thought I had was to put a small 6mm bushing in the hole and thread the bushing to 5mm.
 

You’ll need a damn good tap. I personally wouldn’t use set screw with nothing to “bottom” them against. Small screws would work but have to have thin heads to not hit the spider.
 
My drill bits wouldn't touch it. I will have to bring home my good tap set from work.
 
Being a reloader and racer, I would beat 243 bullets (they are 6mm) into the holes and cut them off flush,
then i could take small amounts of lead out of the ends till they were all even on the gram scale.
They never moved, and being lead with a copper jacket, I could drill them out and start over whenever I needed to.
 
Hmmm, I guess you could take a steel rod and fill the hole, then drill and tap.......
I never had set screws fall out of an open hole if I blue loc-tited them
 
Clutch weights are hardened and I seriously doubt you can tap them unless you soften them first and reharden after tap and thread process. Figure your weight and placement of weight and Hard weld and grind to balance.. Cheap and no worries on losing anything.. If you weld too much just grind off, too little add more… If your existing weights vary in grams, keep that same amount to keep clutch in balance as it came from factory..
