- 2014 Viper xtx, Thunder products clutch kit
I've read their description and I still don't really get what this does. I have the thunder products big venom clutch kit which is a beast and needed no adjustments. If I were to ask for anything it would be slightly smoother engagement, but it doesn't bother me enough to start messing with it. Does this cover help with smooth engagement?
Yes it does. Like you said was ok with stock on mine but now I can adjust for a wore or narrow belt. Strength of it should also be a factor especially for the guys revving to 9700.

Did you think that it was worth the money? I believe it's around 299.Yes it does. Like you said was ok with stock on mine but now I can adjust for a wore or narrow belt. Strength of it should also be a factor especially for the guys revving to 9700.
Only if you are thinking about revving it that high or you don't want to pick through belts looking for wide ones. I didn't notice any speed difference. Just a bit smoother engagement.

It also stops the clutch towers from twisting.

I've used the 911 cover on all my sleds. Always had them turbo, super charged and big bored. Really reduced my servicing on the clutches. On the Viper it reduced the squeal when it would disengage. And now with the evo re flash it is for safety.

The new 911 cover let's you set how far the primary clutch sheaves start from. Get it set just before clutch engagement and a much smoother start.

Agree to all mentioned above....especially the smoother engagement, keeps the towers from twisting (ties all the towers together making the whole clutch stronger), 5 times extra strength for those that are revving higher rpms when running the EVO flash and want to add that the bearing bushing is 200% more surface area and stronger. This allows for free movement of the primary clutch.

The real benefit of the cover is the greatly increased bearing surface area. Yamaha uses a small fiber bushing in their cover, 911 cover bushing is oilite and runs on a larger diameter spreading the load over a greater area. It's also nice to be able to have infinite adjustment of the belt side clearance without removing the clutch although belt side clearance adjusters are available from other vendors for 50-60 bucks. Keep in mind that the yamaha primary is a balanced assembly with the stock cover!
