Like several other here, I recently swapped the 144 for a 151 and moved the skid back with home fabbed brackets. No other mods done at the time.
I would not have believed the improvement if I didin't try for myself.

I have no trouble in flat deep snow, just not as fast. Changing the track, really helped with the trenching and flotation even though there is technically no (or just slightly) more surface area.
Hill climbing is another story. Horsepower and trackspeed is what you need and the stock phazer simply cant deliver or compete with something like an 800xp. The phazer is what it is, and thats an 80hp sled. When you try to compare to a machine that has twice or more the power its going to come up short.
There are several videos on youtube comparing turbo / non-turbo nytros back to back. There is no comparison.
Personally, Im not after big hill climbs. I spend most of my time carving up and sidehilling cut blocks on relatively (for bc anyway) flat terrain.

ya, well where i live over in pittsburg nh. its mostly tree riding and smaller but tight hill climbs and it just doesnt have enough to go up streight climbs. so im thinking of getting a newer sled, what do you guys think a 08 mtx with 4000, floats in the front and skidoo biggybacks in the rear, is worth??

Mine trenches but not bad enough to get me stuck, so far I've been able to stop an go in 4' of snow. I set mine up for powder the other day to play in a 400+ acre field that had not be touched. I let the center strap out all the way, skis all the way in, swaybar off, and front shocks soft. I was VERY suprized how well it carved and quite a bit of trenching went away compared to my "trail" setup. I really wasn't happy with the powder performance before but this was amazing! BUT with this setup it is downright scary to ride on the trails, any slight blip of the throttle caused the skis to lift, and I mean SLIGHT blip. I'm glad It was only a 5 mile run on hardpack to get to that field. There was 5 of us playing in the field, I was the only one NOT to get stuck and I was the only one that could drop off the steep hill on the back side and make it back up. Two of the guys with 121" tracks gave up and kept to following tracks, one with a 121x 1.75" snowcross track was doing OK but could not slow down or he would get stuck, and the 136" Shift did pretty well but couldn't quite make it all the way back up the hill on the back side unless he followed my track. I'd go 151 in heartbeat but mine is an All purpose phazer and It spends alot of time on the trails too, a Phazer XTX if you will, and a 151 x 2.3" track just don't do trails very well.

ya well my problem is that im try to keep up with 155 800's that are getting stuck once in a while and i just can do it, when i was getting stuck we found snow 5 or more feet of fresh powder that we were hill climbing up, and the lil sled just wont quite to it with out spending the money for tracks and turbos soim thinking of something else, and i do have my sled set up the same

You are insane!!
You are insane to expect the Phazer to climb or perform any where near the 800s it is a 500 class sled!!! The Phazer does very well for the 80 hp that it is. You would need to a couple of holes in there engine then you will win the hillclimb LOL!!!

ooo i know, i am very impressed in the sled for the size, i love how easy it is to drive off trail too i was just asking if there was anything people were doing to make it closer to a 800 or if it was about it

Heres a few pics of my N20 project , Sled was just coming together while i took the pics http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ht=#841871 . This year i don't have the greatest snow conditions . But You can feel the power ( 50 Hp shot ) It will lift the skis at any speed under 100 kms . When the phazer runs out of power hit the button and keep climbing . Im running better gas also , not sure if its required . In deep snow it wont hit rev limiter . hard packed it will. But it was effective and worth while .

What I Did
Here is what I did. I put a 155x14x2.4 Polaris track I thnk its a series 4 on my wife's sled (which I have put most of the miles on). I had to cut the track down to 14 with a table saw. I put on 144-151 rail extensions and moved the skid back 2 inches in the tunnel. I hae put a lighter wieght exhaust on mine is a Bender exhaust, if you dont like loud that may not be the brand of exhaust to go with, but it sounds good I think I need to repack the muffler soon. I also installed Heelclicker clutch weights on. I love the Heelclickers I have had them on 4 of my sleds now. I had them on my 03 RX1 and I put on 2000 miles after I installed them and still had not changed the belt when I sold it. When set up right they are awesome weights but if you do it dont go with the 2 speeds go with the old school HCs they are awesome. I would like to find a primary spring with a lower engagement but same top end preload. But that is my only complaint. Eventually I am going to need a new shock for the rear of the rear suspension with the HD spings they tend to override the shock. So when I do I am going to cut down and narrow up a used skidoo suspension so I can shave some weight and have a stiffer better ride for the Phazer not sure how it would work but just an idea cause I can get one of those skids for about the same as a new shock.

Re: What I Did
okk, so if im looking for a track prabable a 155 would work best with moving the skid back, what pitch track am i looking for to fit the phazer, and how is the track holding up, how many likes on it so far?

If you wanna play with the 800s it's simple, boost! Then throw some real suspension under it and you're laughing.
