Timbersled Boonie Bumper

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you get one of these bumpers and you have the Roest Skid Plate, you may have to make some mods to it in order to get the Boonie Bumper to align with the lower mounting holes. Just spent 3 hours installing mine. The Boonie seems to be designed with very tight tolerances to the factory plastics. The front of the Roest plate tucks up in the front nose cone just a little, but this little bit causes issues with the rivets in the mini plate that comes on the Boonie. I had to notch out some spots on the Roest Plate to clear the rivets, and had to taper the front of the Roest plate so the Boonie would line up with the bottom mount. Not sure if this was in issue before with these bumpers? And I also had to trim some of the nose plastic where it overlaps with the Roest plate. Now that it's all installed, it looks good. But it definitely was a pain in the arse.

I will have my sled all together tomorrow, at which time, I will take pictures. I think the Boonie bumper looks cool, but the installation was less than desirable. I am handy with mechanics and all, but I was thinking 4 bolts to install... no problem. Most likely it was designed to work with the stock skid plate and all, but the Roest plate adds a little thickness at the bottom and the Boonie just doesn't have the tolerance to allow it. The notching out and tapering some material on the front of the Roest plate was kind of a pain in the #*$&@. I like the bumper, but $300 may seem a little steep for what you get. I was actually surprised to see what the bumper looked like in person. Looks bigger on their site.

Make sure you put the Roest skid plate under the stock Yami plastic up-front, not just the Timbersled skid plate.

Yep, it was under the Yammi plastic. I had to zip off some of the Yammi plastic so it would decrease the thickness so the Boonie would fit. I removed the plastic right where the Roest Plate stops. With the Roest plate and factory plastic overlapping, it made it too thick to fit under the Boonie. Notched the Roest where the Boonie rivets were and removed some of the thickness of the Roest up front so it would fit with the Boonie.
