Hey guys I had put a set of cams in my sled install all went good machine fired up this was about 1 month ago sled ran good today I went to fire it up battery was dead charged it then went to fire sled it started but stalled then would not start just flood the motor so I decided that possibly timming jumped and sure enought it did I have a manual tensioner in it does anyone know what could of cause it to jump timming

1100 or 998? Cannot ever turn these motors backwards for any reason.
IF timing did jump, I suspect that it backfired and kicked motor backwards and timing chain was too loose so it jumped a tooth or 2.
I have previous experience with 998 cam chain and tensioner. Not sure why anyone would install a manual tensioner as the stock hydraulic ones work very well to keep chain nice and snug (IMO not too tight and not too loose - just right).

It is a 998 dont remember turning clutch backwards which I know is a no no with these and very possible it backfired and jumped out motor turns over nice juat jumped timming and does anyone know just how tight to go qith the tensioner

Obviously this is a critical component and very tedious to change or adjust due to it's location on the engine. You'll see what I mean!
I'd give serious thought to putting the stock hydraulic one back in there when you fix the sled. They work great and self-adjust as they wear or stretch. Not sure why the one in your engine was taken out?
This is allot of work to fix.
Happy repairs!

With the manual adjuster, I believe you can turn it backwards with no ill effects. If it jumped, it was either always off 1 tooth or the tensioner was not tight enough in the first place.

It jumped out of timming pretty good has anyone heard of the gear spinning on the cranck on these not sure that's my issue but just wondering what would cause to jump out almost 180 degrees

Highly unlikely. These are interference motors. I'm not sure how many teeth it takes but at some point the pistons hit the valves.

So how would I know pistons hur valves the motor turns nice and freely I dont feel anything or see anything on pistons that show signs of hitting a valve

Just to be clear guys the sled was not driving or anything it was on a stand and did not start it started fast but then stalled and plugs were really wet not sure how much pressure it takes to bend valves but all I did was turn motor over now how would I check iff it did bend some

I'd say you messed something up on install. . I'd pull the head and have a look.

compression tester would be the easyest.

Can I reuse head gasket iff I pull head off the gasket was just put on new no miles out on it

Why did you have to replace the cams?
Are the replacement cams stock OEM parts?
Poor compression and loose valve lash are signs of bent valves.
