MightyWarrior - Yes he does have the Expert in his sled in that picture, but to answer your ?, My 05 would pull the skis like that all the time. I had the mono set soft, and it liked it.
 

Yes I did have an expert X. I never had it set to full trans-fore "ever".


I can tell you this to I had a 136 Ripsaw on my RX-1 this year and it didn't trans-fore as well as it did with the 9830 which was a 121. I used the same length studs and had a larger foot print with the 136. You would have thought I would get as good or better traction.

The 136 is always harder to pull the skis on!
Its simply leverage. A shorter object lifts easier than a longer object!
A long wheel base dragster is less likely to pull the front wheels because it has more weight up front of the rear wheels, just like a 136 sled!!!

COLDONE: My old partners and Neon Phil run/ran 136 Experts. They had to dial them in to get them from coming over. they all use short lug tracks. When Phil started he used a taller track it transfered less. When I added my speed track to my 136 I had to strap it so it wouldn't come over. The tall lug tracks don't transfer as well period.
 
This is the las thing I'll say on this topic.I used the Ripsaw on 2 sleds this past winter and on My brothers for 2 seasons. I see no evidence that the 1.25 track is needed for a flat land guy. anything from a .75 to a 1 inch Works just as well if not better


Is there anything wrong with a 1.25? No but it's no better then the short lug tracks.
 
It is too bad with a spring order that you cant specify the track you want.
After reading this thread I would consider a one inch instead.

I like these topics, the little tricks. Srxspec helped me out on the one about windage plates for the secondary clutch :Rockon:
 
Then, why have all of the oem's moved to at least a 1" or 1.25" track in the last 8 years. If you are snow drag racing on hard packed then a .75 track with longer than recommended studs work better, but for overall trail riding you will end up with too much byte and the sled will push like a dump truck in the corners. The ripsaw helps give the traction you need without the addition of as many trail studs that is required in a shorter lug track. The more studs, the worst the sled will handle.
 
Racing on ice or hardpack there is no question about it! Studs will win every time! Less lug on the track lets the stud penatrate the hardpack or ice better, for best traction!!!

Get in powder on a lake where no one has ran & you'll get your asss handed to you by the guy with the larger lugged track!!!

Also, I don't believe that any flat land guy needs anything more than a 1.25". Too much wind in the tunnel and the sled just dies on Top. The Rip Saw is the best groomed trail riding track. It's not as aggressive as the OEM's tracks. It's not designed like a "snow shoveling" or "deep trenching" track. You get my drift. It's made for aggressive trail riding.

A lot of merit with this post as well. A lot of 05 RX guys just ran 96 studs down the middle and it worked. I remember on the shorter lug tracks, if you ran that few with RX type of power, you would rip more of them out.

Yes, that is a fair statement. On the new GT, that I ordered, I will only be putting in 96 studs for aggressive trail riding. Now If I was snow drag Racing, then I would put a .89 inch track with 144-168 studs with at least 1/2" of penetration showing. It will go.....

jtssrx, I wouldn't be racing for pinks, because you would be signing it over. Why do mountain sleds have 2" paddles? For deep powder snow?
