When I fill my take I can see the gas level get to the filler neck and I put more gas in and it doesn't change the level so I thought it might be going out of an over flow so I stopped. I didn't see any gas on the trailer so I don't think it was coming out a vent or anything. So the next time I filled it I got the level to the filler neck and put even more in but still it wouldn't come up any higher then the very start of the filler neck. Each time I rode the sled I noticed how many miles it took to get the gauge to drop one bar. First time only 9 miles and the second time 20 and I was pulling a fish house sled.
I guess what I'm asking is how do you know when your sled is truly full when filling it at the pump. Can I keep going until I see gas come up,the filler neck or is it going to be going out a overflow tube?

never have hit an overflow tube on any of our sleds. to get ours filled up all the way without taking forever at the pump, I usually pull the white sleeve out and re-install it when filled. I only do this when trail riding. when trailering/storing the sled I just fill to the bottom of the sleeve. some days the extra range is handy.

I have filled all the way to the top once and I could smell gas while riding for the first few km. Maybe that space is needed for expansion or when it's sloshing around.

RTFM and it says "Do not fill the fuel tank above the bottom of the filler tube. Fuel could overflow if the snowmobile is tilted or if the ambient temperature rises, causing the fuel to warm up ans expand."

The only reason I really care is I don't want to short fill it because I can only bring 5 gallons of gas into Canada and can't get any gas once at the cabin so every gallon counts.
