Looks like it's rubbing inside the tunnel, there's very little clearance.
Track is tensioned for 2" and is running true.
Anyone else seeing this?

I see this all the time... as the track move back and forth it will fray. I usually take torch to it and burn them off.

I've seen a little, but not that bad. Burned my threads back with a propane torch.
I just used my little butane torch to burn mine back.

Thanks for the confirmation and tips to trim off the fraying.

Just did mine last week. Could do it every 500mi. Coming up on 5000mi and track is still fine.

After reading this thread i had to laugh. While my dealer was preforming the service on my sled the tech did the same thing(didn't even ask him to do it) and said it drives him nuts.

View attachment 106372 I have a 2015 STX-DX with 300km, and I see fraying on the side of the track.

YES, I have a 2015 STX-DX (piece of S*^#) and after two rides (431km) I noticed my track looked like it was being destroyed. After further investigation I realized that there was no way to fix it. The track is allowed to float more that the tunnel will allow. There is only 1/8" clearance on both sides of the track before it rubs into the back end of the ugly sharp rivets and bolt heads up in the tunnel. My track is running on an angle too. I was so disappointed with this that I took it back to the dealer and told them that I was not happy with it. One month, and numerous discussions later, I was finally told by Yamaha Canada that all of there vipers are rubbing and that there is nothing wrong with this. Long story short, I am extremely unhappy with Yamaha and this Viper. This is a straight-up poor design and they will never admit it. Cant wait until next year when my starter blows apart like everyone else's in the middle of nowhere...

Maybe you should just sell it and get out before you head explodes with anger.

If you bought a new high end car and the tires rubbed on the fender every time you turned a corner leaving a mark on the tire, would you be happy if the company said, "don't worry, that's normal, they all do that."

If it was a tracked truck yes, LOL... if I was not happy I would dump it, period. If Yamaha cant fix the problem to your liking and this is considered normal what would you like them to do? I have always had fraying on track... Nytros, Apex, Vipers..if you run a loose track for Hyfax wear, the track will move more then normal and do just as pictured.

I agree with you on the fraying but this is more than just normal fraying. Should the paint on my tunnel be gone and gouging into the aluminum of the tunnel? I have it adjusted more to the right side, yet it rubs on the left mostly. If it was a tracked truck yes, LOL... if I was not happy I would dump it, period. I have 5500 miles on my Turbo Viper, and 4400 on NA Viper and I have about the same fraying you have. I had to adjust my track crooked on turbo and others is set perfectly even.. its strange but not uncommon... not sure what else to tell you at this point.

I've put 3000 miles on my ltx. I have no signs of rubbing or track fray.

Coming from an apex that was terrible for studs rubbing the tunnel and cooler. A little track rub is nothing! Way less problems with this chassis.
