Im on the fence about offing my Phazer. I have been having a love/hate relationship with it. I love it and other times cant stand it when I ride it. I am also in no way able to warranty it and am afraid of Phazer cost failures. Im really wanting somthing simpler and really also feel like I want to be just a tad lower to the ground.
Another member here has offerded me a trade for what he states is a very low hour (yes everyone says that) 04 AC sno-pro 440 and some cash.I VERY much like the sno pros as I do 75% if not better ditch riding. The extra cash will help me get a trail tank and its already got trail domes so good fer pump gas. I by far mostly ride locally when I have enough snow. Like right now.
Be nice and let me know what yall think. Mine is a 07 standard w/(after I ride tonight) approx 800 miles.

For a 440? Pshh
I have an 07 base model and havent put any money into anything breaking. Besides 1 or 2 things that were my fault.
But yeah, I do know what you're saying. And personally, I would not do the trade.

I have done extensive damage to my phazer whilst ditch pounding it. I also love to skip copious amounts of water. I have a sno pro. If i had to choose,i would keep the pro, although i don't have experience with that particular year. I have never had the balls to truely skip any large amounts of water with the phazer for fear of it losing floatation due to the lack of a belly pan, which is also the main reason for knocking the bottoms off both aluminum side plates. There is no current fix to truely guard this vulnerable area on the yammi. If you really hammer, you run the risk of breaking the bulkhead in the cat(number one reason i see them parted out),whereas the phazer is all bolted together for a much easier fix(score one for the phazer). Yamaha makes a higher quality sled than cat,but the phazer is a specialty sled. You will get your #*$&@ handed to you in the woods(and any corners) by inferior riders and this alone can make you want to ditch the phizzer! If the pro is well kept(inspect it for bulkhead damage)i would seriously consider it. The pro will come with top of the line suspension(valved for an extremely aggresive rider) which may cost a few bucks to tame down if you want to survive a 300 mile weekend(doesn't sound like your kind of thing). You can fix the phazer, but cat was refining the pro for years by 04.Your not a traitor for picking a sled that works for you. what kind of cash to boot?

Where in the bulkhead should I be looking fer damage? Ive been ditch riding the Phazer w/ pretty decent results but the pro I think will fit me better. The other guy has a nitro and wants another Yam and I do know that dollar to dollar the Phazer is worth quite a bit more and will maintain that value much longer. Im talkin $500 bucks to me on topof the trade, considering that cosmetically it needs a spindle. I just need something that fits my style. I do plan to trail ride northern Michigan quite a bit as well as the UP in a few weekd. The extra cost is gonna offset the trail tank Im gonna ave to get and really the biggest downside t me is the lack of oil injection....not sure how Im going to cope with that yet. In th end both parties wll be happy. Im glad to hear any opinion.
That SnoPro is a 1500-2000 machine.$500 is not enough. If you open the hood and look where the front top shocks bolt to that is what breaks but mostly only if shocks have bottomed out which is easily corrected.Stators seem to be another common issue with those sleds.Personally I would look at a Polaris RR which has got to be the most overbuilt sled chassis wise ever made or if looking cheap a Late model ProX with Ryde FX shocks preferably over the Walker Evans.Even though these sled had trailing arms they had one heck of a suspension and handled very well.Try to find a 600.

I am chossing for my next race sled to either to be a polaris 600R and Sno Pro 600. I problle will take the 600R becaues I like the bounce it has when it hits mongle and staging to jumps. The cat just looks badass.

I have rode 04 sno pros and they are a blast to ride, but this being said ,, I think you would be getting the bottom end of the deal just cause of the difference in value of the 2 sleds. Also be prepared to do a lot of tighening of the sno pros track if u are riding in marginal or deep snow conditions as the drivers have a tendency to jump the lugs lots. Just saying your choice though whatever suits your needs best , have fun.
Guys,
I am the member he is trading with. I wouldn't want Bryan to do the trade if he would not be happy. I own lots of sleds I think I have an illnesshaha. I picked up the 04 Snopro a few years back. I planned to do a little build on it and got caught up in a couple of ther projects, so I never really did much to it. The sled was in storage for the last 2 years, so it really is low hour. It was never beat on and if it were raced, just a couple of times as when I picked it up it was pretty new. It starts right up and runs awesome, unbeliveably quick. The suspension is solid, the track is good, definitely runnable. I wasn't aware of the bulkhead weakness of the pro's, I will give it a good inspection to make sure its good. Overall, it looks like a very solid sled to me. I sold my Phazer a couple years back to a member of this site (todd AKA snopro442) and feel like I left alot on the table with it. I would like to get another to play around with. either way, I just want whoever gets it to be happy and have fun! Frank.
