I Installed snap fasteners to replace the Trail Tank thumb screws a couple of seasons ago: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=90341 . The snaps held up well but I decided to try one more option...........

Pull it Up fasteners: http://www.sailrite.com/Pull-It-Up-Fast ... ton-Key-LL . The part numbers are on the bags in the previous picture. Just type them in the search. I think it cost around $30 for six sets.

Excellent idea. If I keep the nytro for another year I might have to do that or the snaps.

Grizz- I followed your snap post last year. I have been very happy with the snaps.

Just ordered some up, it has to be better then trying to always lining the screws up and praying you don't strip them out!
Oh by the way the subframe gusset, Love the looks and really like how no snow or ice packs in there anymore because of the tapered shape!

Funny you should post that grizzTracks, I was just talking to my dealer about installing a trail tank, and I was not impressed with the existing fasteners.
Question.
Do those snaps hold it down tight or is the cowl able to vibrate and chatter especially when it's cold???
Your comments would be appreciated.

I ran the snap fasteners for over 2000 miles and had no problems with them coming loose. I did finally pull a snap apart when removing the hood but it was below zero and the sled got wet the day before so it was iced over.
I installed the Pull it Up fasteners this winter and only have 700 miles with them but so far they are holding up well. I was able to get some hard miles on some rough trails and they held tight but I'll need more time in colder weather to really test them...... so far I'm happy with both fastener options. They're both definitely an improvement over the thumb screws.

Grizz, will the pull it up fasteners allow for the added thickness of the dumbo ears?

I don't think they'll cause a problem.
