OK, I am new to this winter trailering stuff. Have an enclosed 2 place trailer, dual axle, aluminum trailer with brakes. I live on a steep hill, 2 miles down to the bottom with switch backs. Not always the best conditions, hard pack and ice often. Truck is old F250 4x4 with studs all around. (money spent on the 2 sleds and hauler  )

I do real well till the last 270 degree switchback that is way too tight even in the summer. The trailer wants to pass me on the inside as I get around it (slides down the inside of the turn and wants to jack knife, then it gets ugly).

So my question is will a set of chains on the one axle of the trailer do any good. It seems like it but before I spent the money I wanted some advice. If so which axle, front or back, both have breaks?

Oh, and I know , park it at the bottom, but that is not always an option - maintenance and such. Plus there is great riding up here.

I searche the site and found great tales of horror, but no solutions.

Thanks for the help.

i don't know why you could'nt put chains on the trailer it defiantly would give it some grip. as long as the chains did not interfer with the trailer or other axle and i would put them on the front.

thanks, got it on the trailer brakes. probably should have goggled trailer tire chains first. looks like there is a "diamond pattern" that will significantly reduce the lateral sway or drift. every other section runs parallel with the center line of the tire, looks to be the solution for my situation. probably will just go ahead and get some.

just was not ready for all the snow this early, over 40 inches this year, got 150 mils on the sled already. great start for West Virginia if it will only keep it up. :-o :-o :-o
