I replaced my windshield with the Arctic Cat mid height and mirrors. Great mod, but my trail permit is on the old one!
Anyone have any tricks to remove and re attach the trail permit on the new shield.

call whoever you get the permit from, tell them you broke your windshield, got a new windshield so you need a replacement sticker. The NY DMV has replaced mine a couple times for free due to damage..

from now on use the sticker savers. They are clear plastic that you put on sled 1st then sticker over, they can be removed and re-used. no way to remove a sticker that I know o,f they come apart and you can tell they were removed. I always put mine on the hood so if I break or change shield it is not a problem.

Usually a little hairdryer or heat gun action and then gently peeling will work. And forget about getting a new yearly trail permit in Michigan.....even if you bring in the broken piece. Had a bud bring his right to the MSA office and their words were "Sorry, gotta buy a new one at full price"
So tell me it isn't about the $$$$$$$

I have lost registration stickers before. The Michigan Secretary of State replaced them for $5.

I called the MSA and they said if it was a broken shield you can cut the piece out and clear tape it to the new shield
Otherwise your s.o.l.
They will replace registration for 5 bucks.
I've read that trying a piece of clear tape over the permit and heating it up on the back side with a heat gun might work. The tape is supposed to hold it together as you lift.

Cut it out and stick on the windshield piece. I use clear heavy duty packing tape so i can take my stickers off.

I've peeled it off an old windshield and used the clear packing tape method. It will pass a quick glance but under closer inspection some of the void security section was gone. Made it through several months of 2014 and did pass some inspectors that were just glancing looking for the proper color sticker.

I know the car/truck glass people sometimes soak the sticker with windex, let it soak in good, then peel slow. its worth a try

Here is a better way is just don't put it on your windshield. In Michigan the stickers directions say you can put it above or below the headlight. We always put it below the headlight and use a hair dryer to help it stick to the plastic, make sure you clean the plastic with alcohol first. We been doing it for years because broken windshields happen from time to time.

What I usually do is take a picture of the trail permit with my ID or take a picture of it on the sled. I find that if you don't put them on in warm enough weather, they'll fall off a little ways down the trail and be gone for good.
Or worst case scenario, carry it with you and if the inspectors give you any trouble just say it fell off your sled while you were riding that day.

cut out your old one, put it in your bag. If you get pulled over show them it and explain the reason for it. I am sure you will be let be to move on. Around here we have license plates that are supposed to be on quads and sleds. My quad plate is in my box because it keeps getting ripped off by sticks and I don't want to drill holes in my plastic.

My neighbor rolled my 340 yesterday and cracked the windshield all to hell. I took a razor blade to peel it off. I won't be putting back on the new windshield...just carrying in my pocket along with purchase receipt that has the trail permit sticker number on it and the make of sled so they know it's a match if I do get stopped.

LOL, how much is your yearly pass? $45? wow trying paying over $200 per sled per year, wish it was only that much i'd just buy another one to replace it.
