Tuner III Ski Setup

View attachment 147638
My brother just picked up a 2019 SRX with 2700kms. All stock except for a 22 tooth upper gear and snow trackers on the stock skis. First rip on Georgian Bay this evening. Love to see how fast without the trackers! This thing is a rocket.

I take it you are studded and Georgian Bay was ice, if not that is veryyyyyyy impressive for a stock anything on snow!!!
I am still impressed if it was Ice, that is fast.

Curves with 4" leading edge and stud boy shapper bars. no darting and great corner bite. Worth every penny!

Just back from upper Michigan, put 700 miles on tuner III & snow trackers. No darting at all , cruising along at 80 mph and can comfortably take hand off to clean googles . That was with both conditions of hard frozen snow or late in the day heavy wet snow . For the $250 can't beat it . Buddy with 850 Indy is now looking to get snow trackers for his Polaris after riding my sidewinder, he had problems steering his sled this weekend and couldn't keep a good pace .

I’m looking for advise on the best setup for the stock Tuner III’s on a Sidewinder ridden exclusively on groomed trails in the U.P. I am running an Ice Attack 1.22 so it is mildly studed. Most of my research here on Tuners, the threads end up morphing into what aftermarket ski is better. I’m not willing to spend another $500 to $800 for a set of skis. Just want to make the stock ski as good as possible. I am currently running Woodys 6” on the inside and 4” on the outside edges.

I know you are not interested in changing skis, but, I have extensive experience with that chassis ski set up on a 14 and 18 viper LTX DX and a 19 sidewinder LTX DX. I had same problems you are describing. A friend told me to put 6” SLIM JIMS on the 14 VIPER, NAILED IT!!!! Sled handled perfectly. That sled came in ‘14 with CAT skis. When I ordered my ‘18 VIPER I had dealer swap skis to the CAT skis instead of TUNER 2, with 6” SLIM JIMS. I did the same thing when I ordered the ‘19 SIDEWINDER which came with TUNER 3. I have put 7000 miles on the’14 VIPER 2500 on the ‘18 VIPER AND 3000 miles on the SIDEWINDER, all on the CAT skis, incredible handling. No need for a bunch of chassis adjustments that won’t work ! My dealer asked me why, he chuckled at my answer and said TUNER SIS are good for going in a straight line period ! I ride 99% of the time in Quebec.

Oh forgot to add snow trackers show 2 options on their website long & short trackers. I have the long trackers on tuner 3s .

Does anyone have experience with both setups?
I do I removed the tuner 3's W/ ST's and replaced with cat skis W/ST's. I could not get the tuners to lighten up without pushing after 1000 miles I hated them either I was worn out or had to clean my shorts. also they wanted to dart in low snow hard trail situations. I have 2700 miles on the cat skis now and love them. they turn easy and track straight as well as go where I point them. reminds me of when I put ST's on my apex for the first time and never looked back. I have a set of tuner 3's with ST's already on them and would sell them for 200 plus shipping to anyone that wants to try them seems many have had better luck than me.

Just out curiosity what CAT skis are you all running. Are there different models?

Were the Snow Trackers you used on the Tuner 3’s the shorter version or the new long version? The new long version is supposed to be much better and offer “power steering” like feel. I just put a set on, however, ran out of time testing as trails just closed yesterday.

I have run Cat skis with Snow Trackers for four years on Vipers, but when I bought my new Sidewinder, I was leaving on a trip and did not have time to order the Cat skis. I installed Snow Trackers on the Tuner III's 2,006 miles ago, and so far, so good. There is minimal steering effort, and there is no darting. They hold very well in almost all conditions. I was getting a little push in the corners with soft snow, but about 500 miles ago, I changed out my front shocks to QS3's. Even on the soft setting, I noticed an improvement with more ski pressure and less push. I used the firm setting yesterday for the last 70-80 miles to increase ski pressure even more in soft wet snow. All things being equal, the Cat skis with Snow Trackers are my favorites, but Snow Trackers turn the Tuner III's into a good enough ski that I plan on keeping them for next season.
