Are you sure you seeing over 18lbs boost with header? Stock waistgate does not seem to hold much more than 17.5 even if running 20lb tune.
I’m seeing 18.5-19.5 with MaxSpool17

Maybe when you first whack it to WOT you might be seeing those numbers but after waste gate catches up, it should settle to about 17-17.5.

Yes u will not see much more then 17.5-17.8 lbs with the header the waste gate cannot hold the extra flow of the header and starts opening in those boost levels

On a hard whack of the throttle rolling down the trail it will flash up to 21-22 sometimes but if you stay into it it’ll stay right around 18.2-18.3 maybe once I re-gear then it will settle down

So if one has the closed loop is the regulator no longer needed?the benefit is u can monitor the a/f ,especially at wot which should be at around 12.0 with the header and 3inch muffler , then u can adjust your fuel reg to add fuel pressure or decrease as needed to adjust your a/f # to be safe ,

Closed loop will keep AF correct up until injectors max out. Once injectors max out you need more fuel pressure. So depends on hardware you have, a 17lb tune with a header likely needs more fuel pressure in most cases. And in my opinion a fuel reg is useless without monitoring AF or at least have closed loop, as otherwise your just guessingSo if one has the closed loop is the regulator no longer needed?

So what does the waste gate actually do and how does it work in conjunction with the blow off valve?

So what does the waste gate actually do and how does it work in conjunction with the blow off valve?
The wastegate controls the flow of exhaust pressure and controls the speed of the turbo and supplying intake pressure thru the speed of the turbo.
A blow off valve holds pressure on the intake side until closing of the throttle blades, thereby opening the blowoff valve and reliving the intake of all intake pressure when the intake throttle body blades close. It keeps the turbine spooled up some in case you decide to get right back into the throttle as well as making life easier on the turbo with excess pressures on the turbine.

just to share with u guys my setup , td header , 3inch td muffler , fuel pump , fuel reg set at 48psi key on , max 19 , -10c and colder 19.9 boost . max 20 struggles at 18 psi , at warmer temp like 0 c max 19 17.8 boost and max 20 17.9 also , a/f always around 12.1- 12.3 , when its much colder then -15 c i would turn fuel pressure up to 50psi to maintain 12.1-12.3 a/f on 94 octane zero knock on wot long distance , key is rpm 9100 -9200 rpm works best for me , seems if u load it to heavy 8800 rpm will give u knock . next season will be using the td upgraded wastegate , closed loop , boost timer , upgraded wastegate tunes from td , also 2 years now with the tapp clutch . cant ask for a better clutch
