After recommendations from our site, I opted to change out the stock plastic BOV for the aluminum Turbosmart TS-0203-1223 BOV (recirculating) as I am running the Hurricane, 225,240,270 stock muffler tune with Hurricane fresh air intake. When hard on the throttle then hard off the throttle should I not hear it blow off, kind of like a fluttering sound ( especially with the fresh air intake)? I hear nothing so wondering if this is normal or something wrong. If it isnt normal is there a way to check if the BOV is working. Thanks and hopefully ya'll are getting lotsa snow!!!!!

If your not running mega boost, which you are not, you're not going to hear much if anything. Its not like the old Cat 1100's with their annoying BOV sounds.

Ok thanks !! My buddy is running the same tune and I remember hearing his blow off. Will have to ask him if he has recirculating BOV or atmospheric. Ya I dont care for the blow off noise either, just wanted to make sure everything was ok. Is there a way of confirming the BOV is working properly ? Thank you :)

You'd be getting a P0035 code most likely.

if you don't recirculate you give up some throttle response. you may not notice, depends on how you ride.

Ok thanks Turbo flash!! Just know that the built up pressure has to go somewhere so hopefully the BOV is opening up releasing it like it is supposed to. Didnt get any codes so thats a good sign, lol
You'd get that code. Sensor senses intake pressure relative to throttle position. If you let off throttle suddenly and BOV doesn't function, intake pressure is too high, hence it would throw that code which is defined by Cat as: Turbo Bypass Valve Control Circuit High.

Yes, I read that somewhere also. Thats why I got the recirc BOV, dont care about the blow off noise ( take it or leave it), just want to make sure it is functioning properly as if it isnt, I would imagine that pressure would be hard on something , hahaha. Thanks Earthing!

Thanks for the explanation Turboflash, that helps lots!! The main reason I changed the BOV is because at WOT I was getting two red flashes on the dash ( low temp light and oil pressure light) with the Hurricane knock protection. Couldnt find any leaks, Dave from Hurricane said that the plastic BOV is probably the culprit

I run the same setup as you minus fresh air intake. I will get the double red lights occasionally on a harder/longer 270hp run even with the TS BOV. I've tried the BOV in recirculation and to atmosphere with no noticeable change in performance or sound. If I plan to run on 270hp for while I add a splash (4oz. Per tank) of octane boost and don't get the red lights. Fuel quality matters.

Mine gave me the red light flash after holding WOT for about 5 seconds or so. I will try it again with the new BOV and if there is no change I will try it set at 225 and see if it still does it. Thanks!!!

Before I installed the header and 3" muffler on my sled I would get the dash flash occasionally on the stock muffler and 2 1/2" perf muffler 270/300 hp Hurricane flashes. Since I have the header and 3" muffler and again Hurricane flash I have not seen the dash flash even pulling hard on the 300 setting.

Oh ok, so It might not be leak related then maybe, hopefully I wont have to upgrade the header and 3" muffler to fix the issue:sled2: Thanks sideshowBob!
