I have an 07 APEX with stock gearing that I installed an ULMER stage II
clutch kit as per Allen at ULMER. The problem is that now the motor will
only rev to 10,400 RPM. I removed the tip weight and only got 100 RPM
more for 10,500 RPM.The down shift is also NG,on a hard stop the
secondary hangs up and leaves it in the wrong ratio. The sled pulls good on
bottom and mid range but falls off on top end.Any one have a problem with
this kit? I took the clutch apart and everything is smooth and free, nothing
hanging up. Any ideas? :exc:

I don't know the colour of spring was in stock but if you go back to a white spring which is in the stock attak that will do it as well.......I am asumming that you are running the silver spring.

Make sure you have the silver spring wrapped to 90 and not 60 by mistake. Mine backshifts great with it wrapped as low as 80. If not try the stock pink spring at 70. I also have the washer in the tip and I pull 10800 on a long run...

Make sure you have the secondary spring wrapped the correct way also. If it is not backshifting properly it is either not wound in the correct holes or not wound correctly. You must turn it clockwise when installing the helix onto the studs on the secondary.

I'm thinking you didn't wrap the helix properly. You should call Allen if you have troubles.

Add me to the loose secondary list. 90 is 3 on secondary and 6 on helix. Turn helix clockwise to align studs. If the secondary was the problem, you'll probably want to put that weight back in the tip.
