Hey all,

I got a set of spindle bushings from ulmers for my 09 Nytro. I am having trouble removing the old bushings. They dont seem to want to budge. I have tried pounding them out with a screw driver or punch and they will not move. My concern is destroying the inside of the spindle.

what have others done to remove the old spindle bushings??

thanks

If you've ever changed a u-joint on a drive shaft you'de know. If it's the lower bushing (the only bush on the spindle) you use a socket that will fit just the inside diameter of spindle hole and a larger one on the opposite side to allow the bushing to be pushed into it, and press it out.. Hope this helps.

put ur purse down and hit harder..... I had a hell of a time doing mine too. i ended up gringing with a small grinder on the bushing to weaken it then i would hit it and they broke and popped out. good luck

I used a slide hammer bushing puller. Works great, also works wonders on a arm bushings etc.

The bi-metal bushings have a slit in them. I ground a punch so that it's rounded half way around and flat like a chisel on the other half. Find the slit and drive the punch under the bushing until it separates. The bushing will roll over at the slit and drive out.
