So.....I proposed this last year, but nothing ever came of it.....I'll give it one more try.
I know some of you guys have got to have some kidlets running around and a wife that constantly nags you about riding without the family...so, why not a more family oriented ride than what the official TY rides are?
This is not meant to compete with any of the official TY rides, but would be held on some other weekend. It would be a slower paced ride, covering fewer miles, but with more stops to let the kids run around and burn off energy.
One thing we like to do is to take along hotdogs/chips/drinks, and then stop somewhere deep in 'da woods and build a bonfire and roast hotdogs and let the kids warm up around the fire.
I would suggest staging this ride out of the Curtis/Seney area for a couple of reasons...first, the trails are excellent (better than Munising in my biased opinion), secondly, my cabin is in Curtis and we ride mostly from there.
Lastly, I grew up in that area, and know of lots of good areas to ride and places to have a cookout.
Any interest in such a ride?

I would be interested, my daughter is 17 so not too young and wife has a bad back so that pace sounds perfect for the whole family as I am a fairly aggressive rider other wise.
I would certainly be interested in hearing more as well - specifically if it fell into the later 1/2 of february

Anyone up for a ride in that area over the holidays?
We will be headed to the cabin on the 23rd and staying thru New Years.
Conditions should be very good!

Any weekend pretty much works for me...I don't have far to travel.
A couple of people have mentioned February now...so, how about we target the weekend of Feb. 13-14?
Ya' don't have to have kids to go along...you just have to put up with other people's kids!

I just realized that that weekend is also the Curtis Winter Carnival....not sure if that would be a conflict or a good thing.

We normally go to the carnival and the fire works over the lake at night...those are pretty cool!

Count me/us in this year for the Feb ride. We are headed downstate over Christmas, but will be back home on the 27th or 28th. I will swing by your place when we get back to Curtis. Lake is freezing up nicely the last few days.

Ditto.
Could this work in January sometime????????? Or early, early March?
For me to make the trip I like to use the holiday days to avoid pulling the kids out of school... Now if the boys had straight A's that would be a different story. Things are tight this year for me but having a family i would suggest a weekend that has a school holiday with it, Pres day or MLK day. I would love to say that I would attend but I can't 2 sleds and three boys always has one out.

Yeah! Right! You on a sled? A mere figment of our collective imaginations?

Nothing says we can't do a couple of 'em!
If you want to do one in January, propose a date....although I will be joining the official TY Munising ride on Jan 8-10, so that won't work.
