We have no real trail system to speak of down my way except for the local state forest preserve (Stewart) which has about 45 miles of trails, some groomed and maintained by the local club, believe it or not!
I know Steve, but if you get that track built I'll be down It just seems like the places with no trails end up getting the big storms lately. I'm thinking maybe I can head towards the Catskills to at least get one ride in before our bagger.

I hear ya. I gotta get at least one shake-down ride in to wokk out any kinks before the big trip also. There's gotta be snow somewhere between now and then. We'll keep our sights on the Catskills. They have some trails around the Catskills and also down in Sullivan Cty. Dont know em well...but nothing my good ol' GPS cant get me around with.

I've got over 200 miles on for the season now. If I had more time off work I'd have more.. Our trails are mostly groomed and snow covered. Not alot of snow but enough to groom and ride.. We definately need more but I hope by the time the trip rolls around we'll get it...

we've been ridin every other day on New Yorks west side, my old body can't handle everyday. Needs a day in between to heal. We put on 2 hundred yesterday, with 175 two days before that, awsome snow two to three feet. I really can't remember such good snow so early! So if ya want to ride, go west Men! Only Chauquatua, and westeren parts of Cattaragus have good rideable snow.

Hey, at least you got out and got some seat time, Dan. I still have about a foot of virgin snow out around my property. Think I am going to have to go tear some of it up before I head down to the Jets game tomorrow.
Give us some good news about the weather BBW!!! Aint looking pretty out there already and now warm temps and rain forecasted this weekend. What's the forecast look like between now and the 12th? Any propect of being able to ride out of Oneida Cty?

BIG BLACK WARRIOR said:I'll try and put my Meteorology degree to work and make up a forecast up to our ride. Some rain and warm this saturday as everyone is saying. The next week will be seasonable with just a few scattered snow showers. However by Friday Jan. 7th I can predict another storm with a slight warmup, so that storm could be rain or snow, or both. Then on Monday the 10th I see a Noreaster which could bring us some decent snow. Lets hope so. By then we will have to decide weather to cancel out or not. As long as there is decent snow up in the Cranberry Lake area, we can all just trailer up to there on Wed., if there is not enough snow to ride up there from my area.
Geez Steve, you didn't like this forecast. I'm thinking Gordon's Noreaster on the 10th is going to bury us in so much snow we'll all be lucky to dig out in time to get to his house by the 12th! Today it is mighty warm. Maybe I should get the bike back out before the rain comes.

You know them meterologists.....forecasts changes daily. Let's hope a nor'easter is in the forecast cuz snow coverage is just horrible. Cant image this weekend doing any good.RX-1MAN said:Geez Steve, you didn't like this forecast. Keep that bike in the garage. I heard there are woodchucks out on the roads thinking it is the spring thaw
Snow dances everyone!!

Looks like some lake effect off and on for most on the week. Although the temperatures will not be that cold, which is probably better to give us bigger snow flakes. This time it should be situated on the main part of the hill. Hopefully it will shift a tad south towards my area once in a while. The rain or snow I was predicting for the end of next week, should be snow as there now looks like there should be enough cold air locked in. Still hoping we get in on the storm I was predicting for the 10th of January. Just when most of the water holes in the trails got frozen up we got this warm spell and we're back to square one. Nick, How much snow do you have left up there? I see Worth is down to about 8" Happy New Year to all our New York riders.

I was checking the jet stream forecast and it looks like mid week winds will be directly west to east.

Well we made it through the warm and rain with some snow left. In my back yard we have about 4-6 inches of rock hard snow, looks like Cranberry has closer to 6-10 inches left in most spots and its now frozen and hard. We picked up about an inch of snow on top so far and its forcast to keep coming down all week. At this time I don't think the trails are rideable, Im sure there is bare spots and the snow, although its hard, is too thin to ride. BUT.. We have a decent base left if we could just get a foot of snow on top we'll be on the trails...
