UUUGH ....oil change time

I realize changing oil every year vs every so many kms ......for me kuz i dont put on that many kms in a season........is probubly over kill but its a policy i adopted 30 plus years ago and even though iv probubly spent way more money over the years, iv always slept better knowing oil.....or the damage caused by dirty over used oil......isnt an issue. And because i will be keeping this sled for many many years and changing both oil and filter every year, id really like to simplify the job as best i can and this relocation kit is exactly what i was looking for. Thanx all for your input......except one.....and u know who u r....lol

I change my oil and filter every year or two. Last year I only put 250 miles on the sled so I will change oil and filter at the end of the season. Nice job to do on a Sunday for a day. Couple bubblies and away we go. Gets expensive when the neighbors come over to see what I am doing and sniffing around for free beer. Gets me looking over the sled.

08 APEX
only 900 miles on her. Was never driven.

I timed it the first time.. it took my 45 min to get down to the filter.. going slow.. The hardest parts for me was getting the battery tray out from the wiring cluster. And putting the boots back on the throttle bodys. I learned to put my fingers in the inside of the boots to help seat them ..then clamp them.. The tray I'm not sure still after 10 seasons.. I manage all the time some how thou...sheer stubboness I guess. Ha.

Off topic a bit - but I am jealous you have put enough miles on, to warrant an oil change. At this winters current rate my oil will be barely soiled come end of March. lol

This year I already have 1,852 miles. No big deal to change oil and filter every 3,000 miles. Synthetic oil premium filters.

If this was a Cummins and took $150 worth of oil and a $35 filter id probubly want to get as long of a life span as i could but we are talking a pretty cheap oil change. So if spending too much money is an issue i say no worries. Like i said before .....its cheap insurance....its just not an easy job. 45 minutes just to get to the filter?!!!....too long by a good 43 minutes.unacceptable. Should take longer to put the sled on the hoist then it should to access the filter. Oops there i go whinning again.....

it is what it is...change the oil and filter once a season ..at the end so the acid's in the spent oil don't sit all summer long in there and in the filter... I still feel happy Yamaha was able to fit this awesome R1 motor in a snowmachine.. I bought it back in 07 new because at the time it was the only 4 stroke with fuel injection and totally reliable and with solid performance. And it has never let me down in 18 thousand miles so far..

You need to experience a donuts and Y pipes change, then you'll actually look forward to doing an oil filter change.

I sent a pm about your questions... sorry I don't get emails from TY when I get private messages..for some reason.

Well time has finally come to buy this kit but i was wondering if any CANADIAN companies can get it to me as dealing with the states is just annoying.

WOW...ruff crowd here...i have the Ulmer oil relocation kit that he use to offer and absolutely no issues with it being in the nose of my Apex, it was installed in 2006 after the first oil change and have no issues with the protect of the nose piece, unless you ram a stump which would damage alot more then the oil filter I would install then kit there, also with the nose pan removed it makes for a clean oil filter change...
X2, Got mine from Allan. 15,000+ miles and zero issues. ;)!

Just gotto find a kit in Canada.....or china. Still easier then ordering from the states.
