UUUGH ....oil change time

just a thought I get it that you don't like to go that far into the sled to change the filter... hear is my .02 almost every time I am in there to change the filter I find a loose wire on the battery or signs of corrosion on the starter relay or... something that makes me say hey I'm glad I had to open this thing up because xyz my have caused me an issue during the season and once you have done it twice it is nothing to do. and 45 mins with your sled is nothing if you are like me and send hours just staring at her looking for something else you can do to make her a little nicer or cleaner or what ever. and hours going thru everything you can think of to prevent issues during the season. FYI the reason you can go so long on a filter is because there is no dust in the air in winter so the filter has far less to filter out of the oil. It certainly don't harm the motor to change more often I feel safe doing filter ever other year but I still take the sled that far apart to inspect things so filter change don't bother me in the least. On the flip side I have not heard anyone have a problem with relocate kit either so if that is your cup of tea I would not worry about it at all.

He no longer lists them for sale, but he has enough pieces left to make up kits for those that need one.

After 12 years of changing oil in a four stroke Yamaha I only have to say its not that big of a deal. I was going to go to a remote filter seemed like a good idea but I never did. Never timed the job but its not that long. Yamaha says 12,000 miles for oil change so if you change every second year or even third would be fine. I have to take the headlight pod off to get to the airfilter anyway so after that its only a few more bolts.

For those of you thinking about getting an oil filter relocation kit from Ulmer Racing, I contacted them, and here is the answer......
"Unfortuantely I no longer make the Apex oil filter relocation kits. We simply do not see enough demand for them to continue them, the last ones we sold were back in 2013.

Best Regards,

Allen Ulmer
