Changed four of my 5.5" wheels in the skid, to the new and nice OFT billet wheels These are super nice!! Only regret I didn't order two more for the two inner wheels in the front of the skid. Probably the pair that takes the most beating...?
My good ol' Vmax 600 in the back ground
The old stock plastic wheels were all twisted up and one of them didn't even turn. The bearings were all jammed up Crappy plastic wheels, and you can't even change the bearings!
Unfortunately my parts from Sports Plaza are stuck in Customs for now, so is not able to change to the extrovert drivers this time around. Will have to wait until later. Will then also change the exhaust donuts.

Went up north last weekend and planned to do some maintenance on my sled. I had planned a long list of things to do, but only managed part of it Due to different reasons...
This is the list of things I wanted to do while up north:
- check the skid and change hyfax and wheels
- change the drivers to extroverts
- change the exhaust donuts
- change the steering blocks to OFT Racing billet steering blocks
- change the front end to Barkbuster
- change the broken hand guard bracket
- and some other small stuff
Arrived home (my fathers place to be precise) to some good stuff; the white stuff. Early November and it's already quite a lot of snow on the ground, and it snowed all Friday. I reckon there is about 15-20 cm of snow (approx 6-8 inch) by now. And it was -22 Celsius yesterday when I left (approx -7 F)
Anyway, some parts had also arrived by the time I got up there. A "small" package from OFT Racing with a new Barkbuster front-end and a new set of the 5.25" wheels.
And to go with the new front-end, a pair of Fox Float II's
(Here on the seat of my old V-max)
Also got a package of parts from Sports Plaza; extroverts, chain case gasket, etc

I haven't really been wrenching much on sleds lately so it was a bit of a surprise how well these sleds are put together and everything needs to be taken off in the correct order. Like taking off the plastic cover at the back covering over the coolant hoses, you need first to take the skid off in order to get to the bolts on the inside of the tunnel that holds the bolts for the plastic covers.
Anyway, I started to take of piece by piece in order to do all my planned work. I took the skid out just to find out that the front W-ark (or is it called H-arm??) was broken and the front shock was bent
I got the W-arm welded up by my local dealer as they didn't have a new one in stock. It worked out well enough
Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of the bent shock, but I guess you can imagine how it looks I bought a new stock one from the dealer, at NOK 1900, approx $300!
When I disassembled the skid I also saw that my rails are bent. Or at least I think they are bent....? Well, they are bent but I don't know if it's from the factory (made like that) or if it's the previous owner or myself that has managed to do it The hyfax gets worn down just at the bend, a couple of inches in front of the 5.25" idler wheel.
I guess it's not possible to straighten them up if it's not suppose to be like this One option is to put a set of the small Yamaha idler wheels just at the bend, but best would of course be to change the rails, but guess they are close to $300 each

My father bought a new tools cart for the garage so all my new tools are all in one place, and hopefully stay there!!

Next up was the front-end. As I do mostly trail riding I wanted to go with the wider front-end, so ordered the 42" wide Barkbuster. Got a good deal on the Fox Floats of eBay so bought a pair of these as well to shed some more weight off of the front
The lower a-arms

In order to get to the cross shaft nuts I had to remove the air filter, the battery and the battery box, together with removing some wires and hoses.
I was really searching in the dark on how to get to the nuts but once again the brilliant users of this site came to rescue: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=92623. Once I had this information it was quite "easy". Took about 15 mins to remove the stuff in order to get access to the cross shaft nuts.
After this it was easy to remove the full front-end. Four cross shaft bolts, two bolts for the shocks, tie rods and sway bar on each side. However, I had HUGE difficulties removing the bolts on the spindle side of the lower a-arms Actually, I never got them off, seams like they are bent, so just left them in there as I didn't needed the parts for the Barkbuster front-end
When I removed the stock front-end I found that the stock bushings in the bulkhead was all gone, especially on the lower a-arms So when putting the Barkbuster in there is a play in the bolts between the bulkhead I need to order new ones, so guess I will order the Ulmer Racing oilite bushing set, but only if I can buy the 8 in the bulkhead. Don't need the full set of 24 as I have a brand new Barkbuster front-end. "Luckily" I didn't have time to finalize my maintenance so the air filter, battery and battery box are all still out. I still have easy access to the cross shaft nuts, so will change the bushings before I put very thing back together
After an hour or so I had the first a-arm in place. It was a bit of pain to get the cross shaft bolt to go all the way through, it needed a bit of aligning and steering before it slided through. Once the first a-arm was done the rest was easy

This is pretty much the state my sled is in right now. I had to leave her like this, in parts all over the garage floor. I'll have to go back soon to put her together, but guess I need to wait for those Ulmer bushings first.
(the garage is full of other crap my father is collecting)
I still have a long list of stuff to do, which needs to be done soon:
- exhaust donuts
- extrovert drivers
- OFT Racing steering blocks
- some other small stuff
If I can find my exhaust donuts and OFT steering blocks I had them last easter but now I can't find them
Problem is, the sled is really up north, 2000 km away and a 6 hrs trip

I had my girlfriend with me up north, and after spending hrs and hrs in the garage I had to do something nice to her, so I proposed to her Outside the garage, in front of my sled My plan was to take my girlfriend on a short trip on the sled and propose but since that plan didn't work out I had to improvise

Since I read most two-up with my girlfriend (soon to be wife) the rear end is bottoming out quite bit, so I ordered Yamaha's stiffer rear springs for the mountain skid from Sports Plaza. We can now hopefully ride without having to stop for every bump
Also waiting for new olite bulkhead bushings from Ulmer so my new Barkbuster front end is tight, as it should be!
Looking forward to putting the sled back together Still a long list to do:

- change the drivers to extroverts
- change exhaust donuts

Also had to change the title of the thread as summer of 2010 has passed and haven't done all the stuff I planned, especially the painting part. Lets see how 2011 turn out....

While browsing through the Yamaha parts online catalog @ Sports Plaza yesterday I noticed a new section called Clutch - Weights and Springs. I haven't seen this section before and looking through it I found a lot of different springs, weights and rollers.
For the primary clutch, there are 7 different weights, 5 different rollers and 21 different springs:
