hey guys.
we just bought a venture lite and i noticed that it says to run 91 octane fuel. why is that? is it a big deal if we just use regular fuel? we filled it up today with 87 without noticing the sticker....what do you think? please let me know. thanks! :yam:

It has a knock sensor so it won't hurt, just the timing may be retarded slightly. A lot of guys on the forum run 87 although I prefer 91.

ran 90 & 87 this weekend. darn price jump. the 87 was with 10% eth. didn't know that till after i started filling. but it ran with no problems.

Reason for the 91 octane preference is the 12.4 to 1 compression ratio in the cylinders. As Ruckus says, the knock sensor makes up for lower octane fuel to some extent to keep from damaging the pistons and valves. Run 91. Thats what it's designed for.
