Maybe others have a different bumper; mine is the Yamaha Front Sport Grab Bara (SMA-8KGFT-BU-BK), and it does not have the holes or cut outs in the bottom plate to allow removal of the hood screws. I know the picture I posted wasn't great, but I can see "cut outs" on the top layer of the bottom plate, and the bottom layer of the plate is solid with no holes.

I am thinking that the sport grab bar is different from the sport bumper. Yamahaguys and I have the sport bumper. It's a little more expensive than the sport grab bar. Sport grab bar does not have the plating across the front which protects the screen at the nose. I know that NosPro has the sport grab bar, so perhaps he could chime in on this. I do also know that he doesn't run the bottom screws, and maybe that's the reason.

The skinz bumper actually only comes in black. Barn of parts is a dealer for skinz and he had it powder coated white for me before he shipped it out so I'm sure he could have it powder coated any color before he ships it out.Great thread! We use the Sport Bumper from the Yamaha Catalog. One of them I painted A.C. orange the other OEM blue. There is a few pictures my album.

Mine is the Yamaha sport "grab bar" rather than the bumper; it is about $40 less. I am amazed that Yamaha thought to put the access holes in one, and not the other. I have looked at the pictures of my "grab bar" from the Yamaha site, and if you look closely, you can see that they do not have the access holes. I love my Yamahas, but this is one example of poor "engineering" on their part. On the bright side, I did save $40 and I have a hole saw that should work just fine.

I added the Yamaha sport bumper to my sled, and really like the look and functionality of it, with the exception of the fact that I now have to take the bumper off to get to the two screws on the nose of the sled for removal of the hood! I know that it may affect the protection that it provides, but I am going to drill access holes in the bottom "plate" on the bumper that covers those screws so that I can get to them without removing the bumper. I can just see trying to get the hood off while I am on the trail to replace a fuse, and having to take the bumper off when it is -20 or a blinding snowstorm.
I left my 2 screws out of the very bottom front....no way am I taking off my sport bumper everytime and may I add it helps keep the melted snow to drain better.

I have the sport bumper and there are access holes that allow you to remove those screws with the bumper still fully bolted on. Are you sure there aren't some half round holes on the edges of the bottom plate where the screws are in yours?
Mine did not come that way either. I just left mine out

So your bumper does not have holes in it for the hood screws ? I think you have whats called the "light weight pro bumper" so we are talking about 2 different style bumpers here.

Correct, mine does not have the holes to get at the front 2 screws.
It is the shorter sport bumper

I ordered the "quick release" kit from Evolution Power Sports; hopefully the new holes will allow use of their fasteners with the grab bar rather than the OEM screws. Although, if NOS-PRO is going 100+ mph without the screws, I am not sure that they are really necessary in the first place!

The hood acutally kind of locks in on the front so I feel they don't need to be there....IMO

This style has the holes for the hood screws, the one Nos-Pro posted does not just to clarify
