i have a couple of friends that ride cats they use the staggered carbides and they work great no darting on the trails what so ever
Real world...350 miles on the sled at the end of last week. 4" stock carbides are not adequate in my opinion on my unstudied LTX. I will be stepping up to at least 6", possibly the snow trackers. Will also be sucking the limiter strap up one position.

limiter strap
You are tightening your limiter straps to put more pressure on your skis???? Are you getting to much lift from stock settings. Just curious how it feels unstuded and push with 4 inch or to light in front end.snomadTT said:Real world...350 miles on the sled at the end of last week. 4" stock carbides are not adequate in my opinion on my unstudied LTX. I have always ran sly dog powder hounds with 6" carbides. Works great. So that is what I just installed on mine.

I too was thinking about going with the either the Cat "staggereds" or, Snow Trackers. They have worked very well on two of my other sleds. They are big money so i want to be as certain as can be given it is a new sled before purchasing. Anyone that DOES try them and can provide feedback it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Studding track soon just 113 with 3-2 pattern. Using stock skis I was thinking of snowtrackers ,the cat staggers, or doolies?? Any recommendations !!! Goin shopping on Saturday
Rode mine with stock skis on it last night!!!! 50" of carbides won't help the skis never touched the ground
Seriously I was amazed how good stock ski and bars are. Bad tail, hard packed no noticeable dart, a little push with 150 screw in stud points but not bad. I took it into a couple of virgin snow fields and cut nice, also had a few spots in the ditches where the trail was quite steep left to right and had not trouble keeping the nose from hunting down hill.
I am going to ride one more time to get over 100 miles then change out to the simmons with 2 8" bars on each ski.

screw ins
How do you like the screw in stud points. Never used them. Just worried about tearing a lug. Your thoughts vs studs?

Re: screw ins
Well only 50 miles so far but they are all still there. The paddles on the 1.6 track on the xtx are abit floppy I think they will last but work better on tracks like the shotgun, ripsaw with a more stable and thicker lug they sure tore the heck out of my garage floor though.
A stud for a 1.6" track is not available and would be too long on this single ply track would just lay over

Yamadog said:I am trying a set of Simmons with 2 8" Carbides on each this worked well on my RX's I am thinking with the nose of this sled being light I will need the extra bite I bought 400 of the screw in stud points I am going to start with 200 of them on the XTX. These things are great 200 do not even weigh a pound.
dont you end up loosing a lot of them? seems like they would just rip out? Is that why you bought double what you installed?
Well when I went to install them there is a limited # of lugs in the paddles. If they do tear I did not want to destroy the integrity of the paddles and after riding it on shear ice it is plenty

These yes, with the carbide tips I have run the screw points that are used on ice tracks on an old 03 rx-1 track they worked well but had to be changed out due to wear at road crossings
