I've got a new Sidewinder LTX-LE coming for next season and would like to start getting some add on parts for it ordered so I'll be all set once it arrives.

After reading about some of the stock tri-hub problems that a few Viper's have experienced I'm thinking that one of the first items that I'd like to add to the SW is a 4th wheel kit. It looks like the Larson and the J&T kits that replace the whole tri-hub assembly with a solid axle have been the most popular from the searching that I've done.

Can anyone tell me what the diameter is of the rear wheels on the 137" LTX models?

Any comments on what's your favorite kit?

Got the J&T kit before II had my first ride on my 137" Viper and went with their big wheel 8" rear wheels...got over 2800 miles on my Viper with no problems at all and all the bearings are replaceable too...

Yep JT kit here got 3000 miles on it and no problems. I never even ran my tri hub. It's sitting on the shelf . Prob going to sell it.

The yamaha 4th wheel kit is not good or what ???

I have the turbo dynamics 8.4" 4th wheel kit on my viper. Have 5500km on it with no problem and the bearings are replaceable. Plan on putting the same kit on my new sidewinder, or I could just be cheap and pull it off my viper before I sell it lol

I got 3100 miles on the stock trihub with no issues yet, my 15' ltx dx has replaceable bearings $30 Buck's, so that's what I'll be doing before next season.

J&t 2 wheel 8" kit. 2000 miles on it. Very nice kit!

I forget what kit I have, but it's just the one where you add the 2 wheels. Not the whole shaft assembly, 1050kms of hard riding and no problems. I think it was around $140 CA

I just bought wheels and made the bushing and axle got rid of the tri hub View attachment 117657
Be careful with those composite wheels you have there. They can break and cause track damage. Studs will wear them in a few years and the tread part of the wheels will get holes in it because there is a hollow channel inside of the wheel. J&T and Turbo Dynamics quit selling them because of those problems. TD will sell you them if you ask but will recommend that they only be used for drag racing.

Hey MART1030, I have the Yamaha kit that adds the two outer wheels on my '16 LTX-LE. It's as good of a kit as any of the aftermarket kits and I've asked in another thread on here about using the 4-wheel kits with the tri-hub from mile 0 and tri-hub failures - so far I haven't heard of anyone with failures. That being said I only got 699 miles on mine this year and I am about to pull the skid and inspect the tri-hub bearings. If they are anything but perfect, I will be replacing it with aftermarket, probably the J&T kit because sabercat (in this thread) is a vendor on this forum as well as an AC forum and his experience, advice, and knowledge seem pretty sound.

The cat and yamaha kits are not as good as some of the aftermarket kits. Some aftermarket kits have two steel pins on the inside of mount that will lock into the track adjuster to hold wheel in place instead of just a bolt holding it tight aginst the rails. The mounts can move if hit hard with the pins to locate the mount in place. Also J&T has all there aluminum black anodized for a great look and will be corrosion free from salt and water. the mounting bolts have reuseable locktight applied. all the extra are on the Stealth big wheel kits as well. If you do use a outside wheel kit with the stock hub it has been shown to last atleast another 2000 mile on avaerage. the average without outside wheels has been around 3000 miles.

Ok is it possible to change the bearing in the stock hub or when the bearing are dead you have to throw the hub in the garbage and buy a new one
