- 2016 SR Viper LTX-LE
Hey. I'm new to the forum and snowmobiling itself. Started last month.
So I was riding some trails and a lot of of trail and it seems I need to change some stuff to be more efficient on off trail.
I have 2016 Viper Ltx Le 137,
And want to get your opinion on which skis I should get.
It's kind of hard for me to decide on anything since I have no previous expiernce to snowmobiling.
So I'm looking for help to decide what skiss and carbides I should get
I will be mostly on off trail riding and trails to get to the places.
So something with good performance off trail and semi decent performance on trails.
Thanks

The Tuner Skis from Yamaha really mess with handling on everything but the FX Nytro and Phazer, so I would ditch those. I am REALLY happy with the stock skis on my 2014 Viper XTX. They're basically an Arctic Cat ski with a Yamaha-specific handle and they work really well for me in all conditions.

I think OEM Arctic Cat single keel skis are under $150 a pair. I am using the Arctic Cat skis from my 2014 XTX on my 2015 LTX DX. I added semi-aggressive Snowtrackers ($175) and I am very happy with that combination. I don't think you can get Curves set up for anywhere near that price.

If no studs I think your would be fine with 4" If studded probably 6". I have heard positive results using slim jim doolies. Last year on my 129 viper no studs, the 4" that came with my Curves seemed fine. This year I have a 137" SideWinder with 144 studs. I am trying 8" bergstrom triple points. My dad with a SideWinder is trying 6". I have not ridden his yet to compare the length difference. However I have ridden a friends turbo cat with 9" shapers and it seemed fine to me. But he had 204 1.45" studs. If you get curves make sure you get the right mount kit p/n: XS30621 The taller part of the rubber goes to the back of the ski.Alright thanks I ll get curve xs
How about carbides what should I get
Here is a link to a poll of who's using what on the SideWinders. Should give you an indication of what to go with. http://ty4stroke.com/threads/poll-what-skis-are-you-running.146291/
