I know the stock oil tank/chaincase is a pain everytime I need to change it over from winter to summer/summer to winter. I have it down to a science now, but still a pain. But, where to put the oil tank so that you can have the belt drive and have access to it all the time? Remember the bearings for the chaincase will need to be changed as they get lubed from the chaincase oil.

Do you guys that are seeing the oil light and having trouble priming have the new tank? The one with a dipstick rather than sight glass?

You mean these two guys. Yep pretty familiar with this chain case, replaced it twice already

Yes, the hose running from the oil tank to the pump is still in the same location on bothDo you guys that are seeing the oil light and having trouble priming have the new tank? The one with a dipstick rather than sight glass?

They also changed the height of the pickup tube in the tank. Was hoping that helped the issue. Guess it doesn't pay to update to the new one.Yes, the hose running from the oil tank to the pump is still in the same location on both

This is not really pickup tube so to speak. It's just taller mesh screen then the original screen by about 1/2 inch.

Yes my oil light problem is happening with the newer dipstick style tank. Does not have a sightglass.

I see from your sig that you are running a MCX turbo, have you tried running the return line from the breather box over to the mag side of the engine (MPI update) instead of back to the oil tank like it is stock. After I did the up date I have lost zero oil out the breather and I've had it upside down plenty of times. Are you running with a roll over valve.
Agreed X2,
This update can work with any viper with or without a turbo and it works very well. We have not lost a drop of oil since installing the mag cover return line update, super easy to do also. Simple easy fix thanks to the MPI team!

What is all involved in changing this oil line return?

It's about 15 minutes of work its pretty quick and easy. It would be easiest during an oil change when the tank is empty however it can be done with the tank full by crimping the line off.

Hey guys, I have seen guys going back to a nytro oil tank on their new viper sleds. Wondering if anyone has attempted this on this page? If so how hard was it, and is it helping with the oil problems.

Curious as to why? the Nytro barfed oil when turned over worse than the Viper.

When you running up a hill steeper then 45degree the oil level becom below the oilpump, since the oilfeed is gravity feed you have no oil for your oilpump= no oilpressure! When you place it like apex, nytro or phazer you have much better oilfeed!

So if I understand you guys correctly you're getting better oil flow simply because you're mounting the Nitro oil tank higher up in the chassis? Does anyone know the difference in the oil level heights in the tank in relationship to the motor on the Nitro vs the Viper? Sounds like this mostly has to do with oil level in relationship to the motor not really the tank itself

In a steep climb, or a nose up attitude the position of the Nytro tank in the pic is much higher than the OEM position of the Viper tank.
