Just starting to do some clutch testing and in stock from my viper ran 96.3mph in roughly 1200 feet. It's 40 degrees and conditions are pretty pour. I am studded now but sled still spun a lot off the line cuz of the very loose heavy snow. Speed was taken with a stalker radar gun. Too speed on the speedo read 96 mph. Very nice to see that the speedo is showing exact speed. So when the sled hit 100mph the other day that was a true reading. Will post more results from the clutching later today.

Keep us informed Im thinking 102-103 mph on colder hard packed conditions once broken in that would be similar to the 1200 ski-doos.Studroes144 said:Just starting to do some clutch testing and in stock from my viper ran 96.3mph in roughly 1200 feet. Had a good hard pack on Friday and seen 100 on the speedo. That was from a rolling start in roughly 1000 feet. Sled was spinning a lot then, with studs would have very easily seen 102-103. Sled was over revving then too so those speeds in perfect conditions will be no problem. Very glad to see that yamaha finally has a speedo that measures the true speed

Never cared for using GPS for speed. It's def very close, the stalker is no doubt showing 100% true speed and my speedo said exactly what the radar said so I'm glad to see that

Oh no doubt that to me is a big plus. Always wondered what my actual speed was when I was riding. I mean it looked sweet when my apex speedo would read 118 lol but yes I'm very happy they are accurate and not just close but spot on!

I have raced many times across lake Gogebic in really good conditions and with my Nytro 144 was hitting 113-114 mph on the speedo and on gps it was 108-109 so that's pretty accurate I would say. It was not stock.

Yes that is pretty good. 114 on my apex would have been actually about 102-103 on radar.

I think pretty much under a 100 mph they are real close but once you get over a 100 mph they start being a little less accurate. Still close but off by 4-10 mph depending on speed. My friends 800 ski doo says he is going 125+ mph. And he totally believed it. And I told him no way was it that fast. Well he argued and argued until we found a good stretch and I put my phone in his pocket and he took off. Well he came back saying 125 mph then he looked and my phone said 102mph. So he was pissed and didn't believe my phone and still claims his stock 800 power tec sled does 125. Lol... I told him he is crazy. I could beat him with my Nytro and he drove my Nytro and it said 114 on the speedo and he still says his can do 125. Lmao it makes me laugh just writing this.

Sounds about right I think it's something to do with the tunes of the skidoos. Makes the riders go crazy lol.

Lol...must be something. Who knows. But even though I beat him across a lake and he has driven mine and see's the speedo he still believes that his goes 125. How crazy is that. It must be a Ski Doo thing.

Ya whatever sounds good I guess. Anyone have any idea on speedo accuracy on the new skidoos? Got a friend that just bought a 2014 renegade 800 etec. Said he had it up to 113. He said actual speed is around 108. Does that sound right?

Well that pretty much what my Nytro said. So ya that sound pretty close. That's pretty fast for a stock e tec but probably right.

Ya I thought so too. He said that was after he did some adjusting on the clutch. Not an actual clutch kit just the adjustments on the clutch itself. This was a few days ago when it was about 10 degrees and the conditions were perfect. And he was studded so no spinning at all.
