Yup, I think I'm gonna have to get one of these.

I was just looking at the pile of intercoolers that you have pictured and they seem to be different from what is on the sled that was at Haydays. The intercooler tanks are definately different.

Matt can we add the Nytro larger fuel system, to get more out of this? I know the old Nytro motor specs used to starve around 7-8lbs of boost. What is the max we can go with the added fuel with this system? Would we need a larger inter cooler to pass the 240 mark with your larger fuel system? Just thinking for a future project, and in relation to your past stage one, stage two, and stage three systems.....

It looks like its going to be just like the Nytro as far as running out of fuel. Some do and some don't?? We will have a fuel pump upgrade available like we did on the Nytro. This turbo kit will produce 240hp at sea level. We use the larger intercooler as the base, so its not going to be the limiting factor. In fact it has a larger surface area than the Nytro kit.

moab11 said:hard to say, there were rumors of this being the new factory kit, just like the nytro. MPI did say they were working with the factory for a couple of years on this kit, and only got permission to bring it to haydays on Wed, so something tells me yamaha corporate has plans for it.
Nytro "factory" kit is a S/C from MPI, not a turbo.

We supply Yamaha with both supercharger and turbo kits.

OK cool.... I figured there was the typical ceiling on it like the typical nytro setup. I was more concerned about what I would have to buy additional turbo parts besides the fuel system if I went low compression, and changed timing to maximize boost @ sea level on pump gas (92 octane). Similar to what Cat owners do with their factory turbos to get more HP out of them (aka different inter coolers, tubes, exhausts etc.) Thanks for the usual great mpi assistance

Here are a few more production pictures. I love walking into the machine shop and seeing parts start out as plain stock and come out perfect billet parts. Some of the parts you guys don't see what goes into making them. They some times get over looked. These photos are of the bottom of the intercooler. When it’s all welded up you don't see what it took to get there.

Thanks Matt...Please keep the photos coming!
Will any gear changes be needed for the kit used at sea level?

I weighed a stock muffler to compare it to our muffler that will come with the turbo kit. I had some critics ask why would we use such a large muffler on a turbo kit? Because some of you guys ride in areas that have sound restrictions. For those who don't, we'll have a light weight version available. The stock muffler 13.2lbs. vs ours 11.1lbs. Our muffler has a little more deep tone to vs. the stock one.

Excellent job ...
I cant remember if it was you matt that i spoke with back in march about your kits being avail for spring power surge program.. or if it was you that i hooked up with our dealer in michigan to talk about things.. my name is rob.
At the point where either we or one of your associates you were just finishing your testingand giving yamaha your goods for testing and final sign off...
Can you comment on your involvement and or participation with the spring power surge?
Thanks ahead of time

The more I see of this kit, the more impressed I am with the overall quality of its construction. It really surprises me that Yamaha is not offering it to customers like they have with the Nytro supercharger kit. I didn't snow check a Viper, but did demo ride one and I would love to see what it would do with this kit installed.

On the Nytro we were able to bolt our intercooler to the throttle bodies so that the intercooler wouldn't blow off under high boost or when you chopped the throttle fast. The steering post on the viper didn't allow us to do that so we made this billet hook that holds it down to the steering support post. We never had them blow off during testing but this adds some extra support for higher boost levels. This was harder then it looks, the post runs down and away from the intercooler creating a compound angle.
