Well anyways to each his own on the sound of the viper, and going back to the original question viper vs. apex...I'd say the new viper needs to be compared to the Vector if the demo rides are a true representation of the viper/cat 7000 cuz it sure didn't give the imprssion of the ditchbanger nytro and noway in ell she got the balls of the awesome apex....IMO.
i'll take the known quality of the vector.

i have test ridden one back to back with my apex. power was good but did not see a good enough straight to strech it out. responds well to rider input as i did a standing corner at 60kph with little/no bar input at all. soaked up the rough section of trail i had it on no problem. did not g out on the large hole i hit hard on purpose. seating position is comfortable and transitions to standing really well. had no engine vibration in the bars at all.
all in all it is a really well balanced sled and if i was in the market for one, i would seriously consider it as a replacement for my xtx.

Leftover Apex's are selling for less than $11K in New England making them the best deal in snowmobiling bar none.
The Viper is cobbled together, the Apex is precision engineered & built. You can see the difference & you can feel the difference. The Apex is in an echelon the CatViper never will be. There are too many unknowns w/the Viper, it's not something I'd waste my Benjamin Franklins on. But, if you are willing to sacrifice quality, reliability, durability & handling because you must have the 'newest' thing, the Viper may be your ticket. Ride before you buy, the Viper is hype & little else.

Have you ridden one? Best handling sled I've ever ridden. And I have given plenty of sleds from all four brands a fare shake.
