Viper XTX suspension mods? DPS, Evols, Evol RC2?

hi all,
havent even ridden the new viper se yet, and im curious what to do with the suspension.
It came with float 3s, and im not sure whether to just add hygears resorvoir kit, buy evols, or spend serious cake and buy the evol rc2s? Id really like to do the rc2.
trying to justify not spending so much cake.
Im coming off a 09 XTX with the gytr clickers, and i had no problem with that sled in stock form. I took the time to adjust the suspension and play with it, and i was very happy with it.
(i also lightened it so it behaved better)
keep reading on here all these people unhappy with the floats.
so whats your thoughts guys?

If you're thinking of spending the big $ on shocks, me personally I'd get some exit, axis, elka or something along that line that uses a coil over style. But me personally, I'm not much for spending big $ on shocks, I did however ditch the floats at the end of last season and went with coil overs off a deluxe viper and so far for my average type of trail riding I'm much happier with the plush coil overs, I will say tho that if you want to pound the sled thru the rough stuff the float 3s work very well!

To me the Evol RC2 is more of an aggressive rider, sport tuned type shock.

From what I have read, I would not want a std Float. Evol at a minimum.

Xtx 65 lbs front 130 lbs rear. Limiter straps pulled up 2 holes from stock. 20 threads below lock ring on rear center shock. I am 230 lbs with riding gear. Works great for me.

wish the float 3 evol rc 2s werent 1500 bucks, id have a set already.
i really like the tuneability that comes from a dual valved, resorvoir shock. would rather give the springless floats of some sort a try, had fox podiums on my outlaw IRS and they were unreal.
so that being said, id like to stay in the float family, just dont like not having adjustable valving and whatnot.
other thing is, my float 3s are brand new, and worth a lil more as takeoffs unused.

ya, spent a half hour on the phone with hygear this morning. he pretty much told me axis all the way around is the way to go, but that most callers arent complaining about the front, its the rear like stingray said above.
Bad news is we went from $1350 to $3g for custom shocks all the way around.
def gonna sleep on that a few days.
think im going to ride it like it is and say screw it for this year.

I just got back from my first ride of the season on my XTX. last year I ran the Float3 evol rc2's. I hated them. you need a pit crew to make changes as the trail conditions and weather changed. I am now running the complete Axis package from hygear and it is a different sled. I also installed the rear suspension coupler and this thing is now a trail weapon that will eat 2 -3' ruts like they are not there. I also have a new Pro S 800 switchback that this thing will run circles around.

All last year I fought a bad push and tried several different wear bars and even switched to simmons skis with 2 - 8" carbides on each and could not get rid of the push. I am know back to the stock ski with dual 8" bars and it steers.

I can hit road approaches and plow berms and this thing just skies and lands softly. I even was running hot on badly rutted trails taking 90 deg corners with 3' whoops and the rear end stayed under it and never felt like it was going to step out like it did with the float in the rear skid.

I strongly suggest you change out the front skid shock spring and try it that way, it makes a HUGE difference on an XTX or MTX.

thats my plan stingray, bought the above mentioned set of RC2s, and am planning on the skid shock spring conversion if needed. this way i have my clicker fronts, and good suspension in the rear

anybody have any idea how much adjustment these have?? "clicks"
also anyone else notice they seam 1/4" shorter then float 3?

24 clicks. On all the clickers. They appear shorter if the main chamber air is low. Remember always fill Evol chamber first and main second.

Loaded versus hanging no reconnect made about 20 psi difference for me. I just had to know.

62°f shop temp 72 psi, outside in 20°'s 64 psi main. This was with a reconnect, but the reconnect loss on the larger volume main is minimal.
