Warning, -16 late build Viper turbo breakdowns, bad rods.

I still say take the compressor wheel off. You'll still have the other one :D It was good enough for the float skid shock clearance issues, may should work for the turbo guys ;) :hide:

When I took delivery of my 16 XTX LE, I was told not to turbo it, as there could be problems, so I did not do it. Now there is no warranty coverage in Canada on turbo machines.
I heard last week that the wrong kits/tunes were sent out and engines are now blowing up. Glad I didn't Turbo

I think people forget that MCXpress is a vendor to Yamaha similar to MPI is over here. They do not mess around.

Also these rods are not holding up in the new YXZ sxs. Some turbo builders are throwing rods through the cases.

Some turbo builders would be who exactly?

That was the MPI issue with a vendor that programmed the boost controller wrong, not to be confused with this thread about rods.

Problem solved! Just picked up crank, rods and pistons from a 2014 Viper. Don't have patience to wait for new rods from aftermarket vendor.

How can you install rods, pistons and crankshaft in thr 8hk motor?

Mpi has come through very quickly and professionally on this issue. Even in Canada.
They have contacted me directly to get the issue fixed. Great tech support.
I'm some glad I got "stuck" with the early build 16 with the old engine.

you have the new motor ?
Yes I do!
Crankcase is almost identical to old motor, and the old crank, rods and pistons fits in the new one. Bore and stroke are identical to the old one.

Do you hear or know if Yamaha will have a recall?
