Warning, -16 late build Viper turbo breakdowns, bad rods.

The MPI is 180 HP and sanctioned by Yamaha. If they are having problems, something is going to need to be done.

Here are some pictures of dimensions of the 2015 vs 206 vs carrillo rods.

From looking at these pictures and # u would think the 2016 would be stronger.

I am sure this is probably a vendor supply problem and not a design issue.

Price the old style crank/rods/pistons yesterday at the dealer 1600$

Very reasonable...

Considering putting a set of (slick) tires on a track bike (2015 YZF-R1) cost 450$ and last two days max

It's the labor that's the killer for most. If going in that far why not just get Carrilo?

Why isn`t MPI saying nothing about this??? I`m sure they have read this tread.

Carrillo don't offer rods for the new motor yet. Talked to them, and they sat they could have them ready in 6-7weeks.

Ca anybody tag any MPI dealers or something?

I dont understand. If the old rods will fit the new motor then why dont the old Carillo rods also fit the new motor?

None of the old rods will fit the new crank. Also new Pistons won't work with old rods.

Got it. But he is also doing the crank and pistons. So Sunvang could do the Carillos and go with aftermarket lower compression pistons. Would make sense if in there already and it all fits.
