Warrior Massive Bogey Bearing Failure Questions

I have an 04 Warrior with about 2500 miles on it and I just took it in for winterizing and the dealer tells me that I need 8 new bogey bearings - the dealer says that they are wobbly and need to be replaced. I have not seen them myself. Not covered under warranty. Is this normal? The dealer said that it was because I puddle jumped...less than ten times on short runs (less than 100 yards). What do you guys think? Who else has this problem?

I have been with Yamaha sleds sense 1979 and I find that I have to grease those bearings at least every other year and occasionally replace them. Even the replacements don't last any longer. :(

when you pull your skid out in the off season you can easily check all your bearings then, as well as slides etc. i usually change all of them every year, one less thing to worry about on a good ride ;)! you can find most bearings at auto parts places fairly cheap. i find the 2.00 doller ones last the same as the 8.00doller ones, just pop off one seal and fill with grease and your good to go. think about how many times those wheels turn in 3 or 4 thousand miles and the conditions they run in.consider it yearly maintenance with your sliders and enjoy yourself riding not wrenching. :D

Well, I've had an 03 RX-1, 700 Venture, 600 Venture and I've never replaced a bogey wheel yet. The same with my friends sleds. So why is my Warrior different?

I have an 04 warrior also and I have 2800 miles on it, and mine are still good!
Last year I sold my 1999 700 V-Max with 7500 miles on it and I never had one of them go bad!

Better check them your self! Some dealers tend to exagerate :?

Worrior Masive Boggy Bearing Failures

Have 04 Worrior with just over 7000 miles. No signs of problems. Will go over the skid within the next few weeks and change sliders and inspect boggies. My 03 RX-1 had 8500 miles and no problems. May be your riding conditions.

If you have warm bearings and ride through cold water the water gets sucked into the bearing. That is why boat trailers use bearing buddies, the spring keeps slight pressure on the grease so that when you back the trailer into the water the bearings don't suck in the water. It doesn't happen unless the bearings are submerged almost completely in water, that is why it usually won't happen riding in "normal" conditions.

bearings

i change all of the skid bearings in the fall before the rideing starts its just cheap ins as we run long high speed rides and all it takes is one bad bearing to ruin a ride. i have noted that not all the bearings were bad but most were dry of lube you will allso find out that the two outside rear wheels have there bearings cast into the plastic and are not changable so the wheels will have to be changed as both of mine were bad after one year

To all of you sledders out there who have said they never change bearings. I say pop off the seals on your bearings and take a look. You might be suprised at what you see. Even after one year they can look pretty bad. After 2 or 3 years all you have is some balls rolling around in very dried up grease if you're lucky. Quite often the balls are rolling in a dry rust colored powder. Black John is right, one bad one can spoil the ride and for only $2 to $3 a piece, replace them ! :ORC

It takes two seconds to check them. Just elevate the track, and spin each one, checking for loose/wobbliness or binding. They should be tight and spin easily. Open trailering is brutal on items like that, as is riding in snirt or mud. I've had some last 4 years, and I've had some go after one season. They most definitely are not a warranty item.

Misinformation again. Listen to the guys that say they haven't had a problem. I've got a 97, and never had a problem, and never even checked them. I'm still laughing about the water being sucked in.

I think your dealer is wrong.
