Watch turbo bolt

I have developed a pretty intense dislike for the SideWinder over this Turbo bolt. I guess I will get a deep offset wrench but I really don't see how to get anything on it with out releasing the cast steering brace. I spending too much time on a brand new machine fabricating tools and taking #*$&@ apart. I tried the Allen key in the socket and there is not room for the wrench in the window.

These turbo bolts are all over the page. We have hade some fall out after retorqued under 200 miles but yet have hade many be fine with 1500 miles plus with no issues.

It's simple to fix. It's called take it to a dealer.

Seems to me, tightening is not necessarily gonna solve it...The SW i have here all 3 turbo bolts are tight, and it has not been done before. I would think a good lockwasher is needed here, or some sort of clip system/hole thread to not allow them to loosen off.

The 3rd rear bolt sure is a pain in butt..lol

I had a customer cancellation so I'm going to make time this evening to get mine to my dealer. He showed me a wrench with a swivel end socket on it that is their go to tool for this chore. I'm going to hand him a Nord lock for the bolt. I have hex Head cap screws on order from Fastenal to replace it after it falls out the next time. It's too bad those down tube bolts are not the same size I would've just use one of those because I'm pretty sure I can get the Torx bit in there. Fasten all also carries 2400° anti-seize.

These look great from Alpha:

I tightened the 2 bolts I could get to that were slightly loose. Ordered Nordlocks and took to dealer and they put them on all 3 bolts and said the 3rd bolt was slightly loose also.

Right tools make the job easy.
Tech used long extension and ball end torx bit to easily remove the 2 hard to reach bolts on the down tube flange . Snap-on/Blue point

Matco Saltis box wrench is the tool for the back turbo bolt. Pricey!

They had to scavenge a bolt from the last SideWinder on the floor.

I was at my dealer last Friday and they don't have a bulletin on the bolts yet

Tell your dealer to call Yamaha Canada, my dealer had the Turbo bolt torque bulletin... 3 weeks ago.
