Just because you heard/read about it doesn't mean everyone is having a problem. How many drive bearings you put in your Apex?
Not a damn one!!
Because they are bearings, and are serviceable. I pull the seals and grease them every season.

I would rather replace a $12 dollar bushing every year while I am already in the chain case anyways the replace a $2,000 header that they had finally addressed in the old apex by going to SS and extra support and digressed back to Titanium that cracks and cant even be welded. and how long did it take them to address that in the first place? how about the W arm that didn't hold up. how about the front end bushings with no grease fittings? How about the super warm hand warmers? Thanks to Rock you can spend a couple hundred and fix them. Yamaha is slow to correct thing on the apex and everything else too. When I bought my last Apex (2012 XTX)and don't get me wrong I love my apex still have it and anyone who gets to ride it wishes they had one its a great machine BUT I invested 1700 into it beyond the purchase to make it right and that was with bringing things over to it from my last apex before it hit the snow. When I bought my side winder I bought different skis and carbides a 4th wheel kit and some deflectors for the tunnel and a taller windshield. all told about $600.00. with the apex I kept adding to it to make it better by the time I was done I realized all I did was dump money into it left and right all to make it a better sled. So get off the soap box about how the delta box is so bullet proof sure after you spend enough time on here and learn how to address the issues with it, it is very reliable but has plenty of maintenance issues. Same with the sidewinder we here have not had this chassis for over a decade to find every little flaw so its a work in progress but mind your words because even your beloved delta box chassis would be a pile if not for the form.

Damn dude I got a longer list of sidewinder problems than that. They are all good sleds, some require more maintenance than others.
Enjoy your ride.

Well I am a long time member here but lately haven’t had much to contribute either. I bought my Attak GT 6-7 years ago from Pat’s in the UP. It already had lots of miles but it was really well cared for. It took me some doing though to get it right for me. Better skis, refresh shocks, better track and IMHO the best clutch setup available for it. Love the sled, the motor, the sound, the acceleration and over all reliability was awesome. Ride was ok on trails but yeh not great on junky trails.
Last year I got the Winder bug and got a good deal on a STX-DX model and picked it up. Once again I was changing skis (dam you Yamaha) I rode it stock on a trip and it treated me well. My buddy had more issues with his though on same trip. His was flashed but blew several belts and he also had a nagging chain case oil leak. His did ride better in the junk with the better QS3 shocks. Mine wasn’t a whole lot better than old sled in junk other than you can stand up easier, this had the basic coil over gas shocks. Overall ride and handling was good but not great without the premium shocks.
This summer my friend sold his SW and is down to one Apex XTX. He is the fella I have done all my trips with for years. I knew my trips were waning to Michigan every year. I told him I wish I would have just kept the Attak. I didn’t feel like having 10k wrapped in a sled I used maybe one week a winter because we hardly get to ride around my place anymore. Always chasing snow.
Low and behold the guy that bought my Attak was selling out for health reasons( heart issues) so I bought it back. I just sold the SW last week and pretty close to broke even.
Call me crazy but I just put about $7 k back in the bank.
As for Yamaha? I am hearing rumors of a new model but have little details. I figure no use in getting people’s hopes up but what I heard is encouraging. But again they are all rumors at this point. Would love to see a new Apex in a new skid...(all Yamaha) It’s my favorite motor of Yamaha’s to date.

Yeah I don't blame you, the Winders are pretty pricy and to tie up that money for 1 weeks riding a year, different if you didn't have to chase snow, glad to hear you got your old one back, would love to see a all new pure Yamaha chassis with Apex stickers on it also.Well I am a long time member here but lately haven’t had much to contribute either. Not much to pick. It’s expensive but worth every penny. ProLine Performance. Developed years ago by John Wheelock and I believe Knapp may have had his hands in it. Uses all Dalton parts but the markings on the weights are exclusive to ProLine. Must buy it from them. It flat out works, two identical Apex machines all things equal the PL clutched one will literally run away from the stocker. It’s huge!

We have had lots of sleds for sure. Unfortunately though my dad is still around and doing good for 83, he has hung up sledding. He rode up to 76 then sold his last one. Still loves to talk about them though.
I can put all these Apex rumors to rest. My grandson had the great honor of unveiling the new prototype 2021 Apex on Christmas Eve day.
All new Suspension front and back plus new unlimited hp. Even new bolder graphics.
Enjoy
