Not sure if I should start a new thread or keep asking questions here, seems there is a place for RX questions but it seems like there is more action on the “general discussion” for the time being, I can tell you guys are like minded, thinking about snowmobiling when it’s 80 degrees outside. I don’t know proper forum educate here so please correct me if need be.
One more questions for you fine folk, what kind of antifreeze should I use? I have to add a little bit is red or green (or blue lol) does it need to be Yamaha?

welcome!
you might want to check and see if the rear shock has an aluminum body on it. the steel ones are non rebuildable. i can help you set the old proaction so it rides pretty well.
if you have a yamaha dealer close, i would use the engine oil service kit they sell. only go semi synthetic as that motor is still not broken in yet.
chaincase lube and grease can come from your local parts store and i do reccomend synthetic for both of these.
belt, i would stay with the stock 8dn as they last really well and you can find deals online for them.
throw on the ski shim mod from the tec pages with a new set of 6" carbides and go ride that thing to decide what you want to do next.
I have done most of what was mentioned here, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I’ll definitely take you up on help with suspension setup after rebuild. I do have C&A skis, should I still shim them? Also there is what looks like a shock that runs parallel to the track, is this something that should be sent out with the shocks? Looks like it to me..

He was yamaha's suspension Tech back in the days of Yamaha snocross racing. I've been using him for 10 to 12 years for all my shock revalving rebuilding and suspension setup and is the most knowledgeable guy I know. He has a shop right outside of Lindstrom Minnesota and does most of the suspension work on the snocross utvs and ATVs that race at the Elk River complexWhy is he not a Vendor? Recommendations or referrals please.

It sounds like you are describing the transfer rod on a mono shock suspension do you have 1 or two shocks in the rear skid? if only one you have a mono skid and that is a transfer rod and someone upgraded the rear suspension already. that would not need to be sent in.I have done most of what was mentioned here, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. look to see what is in there most likely just plain yellow. be sure you are at 50/50 mix for best cooling. Not sure if I should start a new thread or keep asking questions here, seems there is a place for RX questions but it seems like there is more action on the “general discussion” for the time being, I can tell you guys are like minded, thinking about snowmobiling when it’s 80 degrees outside. so you have a suspension out of a 2006-2009 apex in that sled way better than the proaction that came stock in that sled. sounds like the previous owner did some nice upgrades and that shock my not need to be serviced either. but your shock guy will need to know that you have a mono skid for sure.

yup, that was a popular mod to put in a monoshock suspension on the rx sleds. if it has 2 shocks in rear suspension it will be the stock proaction and i know how to set that to ride well.
