Hi totally yamaha'ers

I'm new here. But joined due to my recent purchase of my red/black ltx se. First four stroke, first yamaha.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I may have messed something up somehow.

I installed an HID kit today, something that I've done a time or two before with great success, and with the exception on how this sled comes apart / goes together I felt it went just like my last installs.

Here's the issue. I have 0 power when I turn the key to "run" position, no fuel pump, no dash lights, no nothing. When I turn the key to "start" the starter Will crank the engine over readily, but since no fuel, it won't start.

I've checked all connections and have pulled and checked every fuse in the box. All look good. The dash plug is connected, as is the lock cylinder plug. Battery connections are tight. The odd thing, is immediately after I turn the key to the Back to run from start all of the status lights on the top row of the dash flash once very quickly. Which means I have power there?

Hopefully someone who knows these things better than I do can chime in here. Thanks guys!

Take the throttle block apart and check the connections in there. I struggled with your exact same symptom. It was this one.

Bend the two metal tabs toward the locking tab with the big arrow. Scrape the two metal tabs with screwdriver or knife. You will know if this is issue if everything immediately powers up. Scary thin wires in there so be careful they arent pinched when you tighten block back up. You can do this by just removing cable at thumb throttle.

did you bump your kill switch button,

I hooked up my HID lights and everything went great, check what the guys are saying, but I would also check the main wiring harness. Look inside to make sure none of the tabs are bent back and make sure none of the wires are pushed back in that main wire harness.

I would bet money on it, that he bumped the kill switch...
X2 done it myself sadly. But it's honest mistake. Don't hardly use them anymore and it's not something I personally grab right away. But It's my first check now. After installing bars and risers and hand gaurds i did it and i was all lost thinking I screwed something up and no clue how I coulda. Silly kill switch.

Aww man, thanks guys. I didn't even bother to check the kill switch. I was so freaked out right away with the darkness of the dash I think I'm overreacting. Hopefully that's what it is.

The railroad doesn't stop so I'm at work currently. I WILL report back around 4pm central

P's. How hard is it to install the yamaha tether? I'm interested in one just in case.

Thanks again. No matter what they say on do*ta** you guys are grade A

Any info you need is right here vayjining22

Lots of great info and great people!

The tether install is easy it involves pulling 2 wires out of the connector on the left side under the cowling and insertin the kill switch pins.

Yes me too! I will check out those switch covers lol. I did end up riding, but the white out wind conditions cut it short. the 35w hid (6000k) are more than plenty! The high/low works well and I am overall very impressed with the upgrade.
Way better than the factory worm hunters.

Now if I can just get this thing to turn :/

And break in the skid. Boy is it stiff
