Bruce might be throwing a lot of nitrous into the engine, and calling it a 40 horse kit, cause it shows 40 horse on the "track Dyno"?????? If this is true, then he is actually selling a 125 horse kit.
I don't know how each manufacturer rates them, but know on a track dyno, a 40 horse system should only show 22-25 horse according to Allen Ulmer. I will talk to Bruce, and see what he has, as Barry sells kits by grams per second.
Would take over 125 to start blowing head bolts and gaskets.

Sounds good, maybe it just is a rating confusion. I like to compare top speed number against proven hp numbers in a turbo or SC RX, and those are pushing 160 on the dream o meter as well so I think its safe to say that on the CB perf 80hp shot your getting all 80 horses.
Last question if the holtzman kit says 80hp and your only getting half of that why don't they just change the pill ratings and say what it is? Thanks!

i dont look at the speedo when on the button wide open, but with the stock warrior gearing i ran 127 on the gps. looks like i will change gears to hang with you fellows on the big end.

NX has a new product called fire and ice for the bottle sounds like with this part bottle temp is a no issue. Bruce can you comment on the hp shot question?

Holtzman's system has no pills to change. If you want a bigger shot, you would need different nozzles. I did this on my 05 RX1, as I had a 60 claimed shot, and went to 80. Still ran the same fuel system, just had to adjust the screws.

Re: ground electrode burning
hmmm, the reason is the projected nose on the plug. In street racing, I have seen guys pulling out their plugs after a run and the strap is melted off! They don't realize that the reason for this is the projected nose. They are stuck on the idea that they only need a plug with one or two heat ranges colder. That is not true.
Ideally with NOS(or forced induction!), you'd want a non-projected tip plug. On my car(with 150hp shot of nitrous and with the blower) I run in it daily with a non-projected plug with a properly designed center ceramic area. This design pulls the heat out of the chamber quicker. That is one of the functions of a spark plug.
So anyways...here are some other facts, backed up by NOS-PRO's nitrous runs with his sleds....IN REGARDS TO MPH RUN and HP...
My tcat weighing FULL weight, similar to our 4 stroke Yammy's....and I am 210+lbs....
-trail track 3/4" full block, Camoplast
-192 Woody's Golddigger's TRAIL studs
-our trail class rules say the sled CAN'T be strapped down...
So anyways, with around 210hp on tap, the tcat would run 130+mph in a TRUE 2000' anyday...best runs were 133's and 136.6 in 2500'. This is a very dialed in chassis....rolls very nice. And remember, no traction for ~1000' due to the studs(I know guys run this power to 130mph in 1000' with traction!).
NOS-PRO running 127 with his claimed hp on his 'trail' sled is about right. I am sure if he worked at it, he'd be hitting 130 with no problem. Not too many sleds can run 130mph and be trail ridden. I personally never ran into any with my tcat in 3 winters.
Sorry to ramble on, I guess my point is this...the Apex's are running 113mph to 120mph (very few) on radar guns in a set distance. Spray it with a 60hp+ shot and that should get you in the 125mph range in a set distance.
Dreams of 25+mph are just that, DREAMS.
:ORC
kinger shows a link to a video of 101 mph to 126 mph with NOS, keep in mind the sled was clutched for 9500rpm off the bottle. An easy 10 to 15mph would be gained from proper RPM off the bottle!
None the less, I need to get back to the treadmill!!

low flying missile said:I read about this problem of the ground electrode burning on SnoWest. Seems to be something peculiar to nitrous. Possible cures discussed were going 2 steps colder on the heat range, placing shims under the plug to move the plug out of the chamber a bit, filing the electrode tip shorter. It wasn't mentioned but a side gap plug would probably help a lot too. Larry, you probably know this already but I thought I'd post this anyway for those who don't.

87, I don't think you could be more correct about that post. Also, I think a sled for 1,000 ft., without the bottle would run 101mph, but the sled topped out for a 1/2 mile would run 115 or so. On the bottle the speed is so fast, that it gets up to that speed of 125mph in 1,000 ft., but might top out a 1/2 mile at 127-128mph. With the nos, you are making it to the 1,000 ft. quicker.
Did that make sense? I think it did.

Thanks Terry. I'd still like to see 125 in 1000 feet with a trail studded sled however! But I suppose it is possible!! The tcat with the wife on it ran 119 in 1000 and she let off before the end because her glove was pinched UNDER the lever!!

We run a fogger nozzle in our charge tube and it works well for us. I have the basic chart from NOS, but do any of you have a chart made up referencing pill size / bottle pressure / grams per sec / hp etc.
Thanks Tom

A dry system with a good efi management box for fueling need should ba as good as any wet system!

I have been reviewing all this controversy over holtsman and boondocker nitrous systems, wet vs dry. Not one of these systems ran today as close of a race with neon phil and alot of people had nos. I would like to see them compete with Phil. We ran a great race with phil today it was close. The CB performance system was great!

RX1LARRY, I think the more important issue here is what is gonna be best for the everyday trail rider in the WINTER!!
I fully agree that a system like the NX will work great in controlled conditions like SUMMER time racing. I am sure it will work fine for the same applications in the winter too.
Seems to me the BOSS or Holtz systems are just too easy to use for the WINTER trail enthusiest!!

I agree. I can sit around and tune and tune and tune for the various conditions but I would like something that I can just pretty much set up and it works like it says it does time after time.
