I don't know if I'm completely off base or what - PLEASE HELP!! :ORC
Up until now, I've been looking for a sled with somewhat the best of both worlds/ I want something fast/responsive that I can cruise on but also have the ability to pound on in twisty and/or rough trail conditions. From this, I've been somewhat focused on the Apex/Vector/Nitro models to suit my needs. The more I read though, the more I have noticed the growing support for the longer track models.
Maybe I've been off base but just from looking at the specs, I see these models as being quite a bit heavier (25+lbs?) than the shorties, and a bit more cumbersome to "throw around" when you wish to. Obviously, I'm missing something. Does rider size have anything to do with this? I'm 6' and 190 lbs. Any additional opinions anyone wishes to share would be greatly appreciated. ;)!
Boy, It seems that the closer that the promotion deadline gets, the more difficult this decision gets. A viewing of these sleds would definately help - although I have to wait until March 23 to do so. :?

p.s. keep in mind my riding area (WNY, Tug Hill, Canada) not excessive snow by any means in our immediate area nor are there any significant hills/mountains.

short or long...

think of it this way....longer wheel base will bridge the bumps....but the longer the length the tougher the turning in the curves....kinda like a long wheelbase vehicle...a f250 with a crew cab and a 8' bed vs. a sedan or sports car... the shorty will be tossable but take the bumps harder...
that said...the 06' are addressing the two differences...rider forward helps redistribute the weight to make a longer sled feel more like a shorter one and the monoshock ra will take the bumps better...

bottom line...look at where you do 90% of your riding and what you like to do mostly...and what you dont like...
if you long for the twisties to "get it"....you'll be better suited to a short track and you wont be as happy with a long track...if you look to break trail and bust some powder and go through the twisties to get to straightaways...more touring compared to aggressive trail...you'll love the longtrack....

The NYTRO is a great little sled for trail/ditch riding that will give you a firm but not harsh ride, the Vector GT will be a little softer especially with the dial adjust mono suspension and clicker front which can be adjusted. The other benefit to the Nytro is that it is clutched and geared for trail/ditch corner to corner riding with the new style seat. The Nytro is for the aggressive rider.

If you must have a 150 the Attak just felt like it absorbed the bumps better but if you are not into 136" riding the Apex E/R should be able to be dialed in for the ride you want. The other upgrade models add upgraded shocks which you may or may not need.

My 2 cents.
Years ago the front ends could not handle the push of longer tracks so everything stayed at 121, then front suspensions and ski profiles became much more effective. :ORC
Also we must remember that increased suspension travel, means bigger circles for the track so less actual track on the ground. Now we can turn mountain sleds with 161 tracks.
The Attak has 136, I think it is bringing the fornt suspensions and rear traction back in balance.
I can't wait to update to an attak KIDS in college are putting a crimp in this.

im still trying to figure out what i want, i want the attak bad but still going back and forth with one of the apex's, i do alot of trail riding, but also do alot of powerlines and ditches when the snow is good. and always trying to find areas with decent size jumps, so i was wondering how you guys with the warriers think they do on jumping compared to the rx1's...

ironviper, you want an Attak for what you just described ;)!

I was able to do all the things you listed with my Warrior :ORC

I agree with 150Fuelie. My Warrior has exceeded all of my expectations especially in the comfort department. When I get off and switch with my son and get back on my SX700 it is like night and day. I could not believe that I used to think that the '97 had some suspension!! As far as the tight trails, a dialed in Warrior has no problems at all. A very capable all around sled. IMHO
