Wow that is B.S.!! Great info thanks. I am going to try and 509 helmet with the goggles next. On a side note, I really like the 509 videos!! You can see some previews on youtube. I am also going to switch over to Gates G-Force Belt instead of Yamaha belt.Under the 'sucked' category my friend bought a Zox modular helmet from Royal Distributing online (red tag sale) and when we were about to go for a ride he couldn't get it closed without the chin cover falling out and the breath deflector kept moving around. He could not get it to work at all and Royal was too far to go so we had to stop at a dealer and buy another helmet just to get on the trail that morning. When he took it back to Royal they would not take it back because the sticker had been peeled off the visor but they did agree that the components would not stay put and tried several others off the shelf with the same result. Then another guy came to the counter with the same problem and they still would not take it back- they said they would send them back to the manufacturer for warranty. It's obviously a design flaw, I'm surprized because usually Royal is pretty good but these helmets are a P.O.S.!

Depends on the temp and terrain you ride in. Its nice to layer for changing temps and exertion. If you trail ride where its cold buy the insulated stuff.Do you prefer insulated or non-insulated Klim?

I agree. When I originally saw the prices of their gear a few years ago, I said "no way am I paying that much". But I did buy a pair of gloves ($100, Fusions) as an impulse buy at a show (Hastings, MI) as I definitely needed a new pair. Those gloves were worth every penny and they have lasted longer than any prior pairs I had owned. They are 4 years old and have no sign of failing anytime soon. Since then, I have bought another pair of gloves by Klim ($130 Togawee or something like that, 2 tone black and leather with insert liner gloves) that I like even more than the fusions. I replaced my boots with Klim, and I didn't realize how cold the old boots were until I wore the Klims the first time.
Now Im looking at buying bibs next year, I wont bat an eye at the fact they may be $400+ because they will be much better than the $200 pair I have now that are getting worn out at the knees and seat. Either technology for cold gear has gotten much better in the last 5 years, or their stuff is that good. Either way, the older I get the less tolerance I have for cold and it takes me longer to get warmed up, so Ill keep buying stuff that's warm and works I suppose!
I bought the Klim Power cross pants and they are really warm and comfortable. I also bought a pair of 509 googles and there good too.
