On a carbed rx1 platform, which is better for 1000 ft snow drags. A mpi stage 2 or 3 or a turbo kit running around 300 hp. I have had both and can't decide what to build this summer. Any thoughts will be great.

I was wondering the same thing... I would think supercharged if running same hp... The worlds fastest sled is supercharged much different then mpi but still cool to know http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fdrqm0UMEU
I think most of the records are held by turbos
Super less mods to it, to get it to hole shot. The Turbo needs some kind of studder to get rolling. And on a RX1 that means a lot of $$$$$

If you looking to build a Snow Racer the Super will Not run with a turbo.
I set the mark for the Trail Sled Shootout with a turbo and a small one at that.
Ted.

Ted were there any supers there pushing over 20psi? i'm sure setup has alot to do with it like suspension... I'm sure if someone with your knowledge was to set up that thing it would run pretty darn good. hp for hp it just seems like the super would win why wouldn't it? I know the supercharger won't be the fastest because you can get bigger turbos than superchargers but were talking hp for hp.
I am very interested in this on my next build i want to run over 20psi sounds like the mpi can run like 25 or a little better or maybe a turbo would be better with a msd i want something for 800-1000' snow drags with no studs 144'' track and 1.75'' lug.

I would say the Turbos would probably come out on top If it wasn't broke down but if you actually wanted to drive your sled instead of fixing it all the time the Super would probably be the answer...
Okay so maybe I have a bit of an attitude since we have had so much trouble with headers (in 3 different sleds)

Stage 2 s/c at 18lbs should be 290-305 if my calculations are right. I have also found a old cpr kit for 1500.

for 1000 foot drags a turbo is the way, Last year I was running a stage 1 CPR kit and my dad was running a stage 1 MPI and boost for boost. 12 lbs to 12 lbs. The turbo won every time. His was set up good to, and mine was not really set up that great.
For 660 races go with the big boost superchager and make sure she bites the snow real good.
Lymen, pound for pound you already know what your going to build, get the turbo just make sure it runs good, the top 5-6 sleds out the shoot out this year were fast, and I know of some bigger fish coming next year.
And from what I have learned this year, 90% of the problems with turbos are user install, and not tuned the right way, running to lean or to rich can cause nightmares with heat issues, pulling antifreeze lines from the wrong spot, improper heat shielding.
Just my 2 cents

I think what adirondac blue meant was hp for hp which would mean the supercharger would need to run a couple psi more than the turbo to get same hp. If i do upgrade this summer i'm thinking stage 3 mpi or powerlites stage 2 or 3 but all the talk of headers kind of scare me. i would love to hear some more info on this Remember were talking snowdrags.

I'm thinking same thing hp to hp not boost for boost.
Wouldn't 300 HP be 300 HP and if a super charger get it there quicker it seems like the way to go. I'm not claiming to know anything just my take.
I want to build a 660' ice sled this summer.
